Dear President,
The Association paid approximately ₹4 lakh in income tax last year (2025-2026) as per MIS, against maintenance collections of approximately ₹9.8 lakh from residents. This is significantly lower than the approximately ₹22-25 lakh paid in previous years. We had also pointed out the risk of penalties of up to 200% in cases of underreporting.
Despite our request for a detailed tax computation and supporting documents, we have not yet received any response from the Treasurer.
Residents should not be expected to bear any penalties, financial losses, or liabilities arising from omissions, or non-compliance in tax filings, including any incorrect tax payment or underreporting. The Treasurer has also not been willing to share the relevant details with residents, despite our concerns on this matter.
We kindly request written confirmation within seven days as to whether any other Association member was involved in these decisions and is willing to accept responsibility for the Association’s tax filings and any related financial losses.
If no such confirmation is received within seven days, it will be understood that the Treasurer accepts full responsibility for the tax filings and for any liabilities, penalties, or consequences arising from them.
Regards,
Praveen T
