Hi Folks.
Sorry for the late start in getting this going.

Between tonight and Wednesday we have 60 adults “graduating” from the
Adult Classes, so I am organizing the first FNR for this Friday (7th
May) to accommodate those who’d like to try their hand at racing.
This year, for the first time, riders by default start as D-Grade and
have to qualify for TNR by being upgraded to a “C”. Exceptions to
this rule are possible if TNR race director (Eric) approves.

Similar to last year, my main goal here is just to get the ball
rolling on FNR. Thereafter what happens depends on who wants to race,
and which groups have a representative willing to help run the events.

Possible categories include:
D-grade
Juniors
Women-only
Sprinters
Masters
Inline skaters ? (I’ll only approach if it looks like we need more
organizers, and would be willing to regularly accommodate the skaters)
Others??

My thoughts at this point are to base the FNR calendar on a 6-week
cycle to coincide with the first 3 (or 4?) Adult Class graduations.
That means the FIRST date of each cycle would be:

Friday May 7th
Friday June 18th
Friday July 30th
(Friday Aug 13th)

Furthermore I think we can consider having FNR only on the first 4
Fridays of each 6- week session. This means we’d have a total of 12
events. If organizers want to step forward to fill in any of the
missing weeks, great.

Some Fridays already have events planned. See the table on the
website.

What do you think about this as an overall concept?

Who would be willing to put their name against one or more dates?

Who will offer to be the official representative of a certain group?
(main duty is to communicate with those riders)

Anyone wish to become overall FNR Race Director ? (my formal role is
to chair the Race Committee which is charged with ensuring TNR and FNR
does actually happen)

My hope would be that all FNR events have something for D-grade as
those riders don’t even have the option of competing at TNR (most
other riders do, though maybe not in the events they’d like), but I
think it should be up to each week’s organizer to determine what
events they’ll schedule.

It is hoped that FNR can become self-supporting financially from entry
fees ($1 Jr, $5 members, $10 non-members), but at least to start with
any short-fall can be made up from TNR (seeing as FNR does help TNR).
I suggest paying for an announcer.

This Friday I have D-grade. But which other group(s) would like to
have their own racing events? I'm open to whatever categories can
show up in sufficient numbers.

Thanks for any input and involvement.
Shaun
