샌디에고 한인 학부모회(SDKPA)에서 2025-2026년도 사이언스 클럽을 이끌어갈 리더를 모집합니다.

지난 3년간 파일럿으로 운영해온 사이언스 클럽은 학부모님과 학생들의 뜨거운 관심에 따라 2025부터 정규 프로그램으로 변경되었습니다. 그동안 보여주신 적극적인 참여와 지원에 감사드립니다. SDKPA는 앞으로 더욱 체계적이고 교육적으로 발전할 사이언스 클럽에 함께할 고등학생 리더를 모집합니다.

2025-2026년도 사이언스 클럽 리더 모집 사항은 다음과 같습니다.  

리더 지원서

• 지원 기간: 4/9일 (수요일) 9 PM -  4/12일 (토요일) 9 PM 

• 해당 기간 이외의 추가 신청은 허락되지 않습니다.

• 지원서에 학부모님의 연락처 (이름, 이메일, 핸드폰 번호)를 기입해야 합니다. 한인 학부모회에 등록하신 내용과 일치하는 정보를 기입할 수 있도록 자녀분께 사전에 알려주시기 바랍니다. 

• 현 사이언스 클럽 리더도 2025-26년도에 계속 활동하고자 한다면 반드시 기간에 맞추어 리더 신청서를 접수해야 합니다. 

지원 자격

• 기존 사이언스 클럽 리더: 현 9학년부터 11학년 까지의 고등학생. (12학년 리더 제외)

• 신규 리더 

• Carmel Valley, Rancho Penasquito/Bernardo 지역: 현재 사이언스 클럽 그룹원이거나 지난 3년간 그룹 신청을 한 기록이 있는 현 8학년 학생

• 4S Ranch, Scripps Ranch, Chula Vistas 지역: 현재 8학년 그룹이 없으므로, 회칙에 따라 현 8학년과 9학년 학생 지원 가능 (SDKPA 사이언스 클럽 활동 경험 무관)

• 거주지별 해당 신청 지역 구분 (북클럽과 동일): 학교/거주지별 신청 지역 구분표 클릭

• 영어로 읽고 쓰고 말하기가 자유로워야 합니다.

• "학생의 보호자가 샌디에고 한인 학부모회(SDKPA) 회원" 이어야합니다. (✪ 현재 SDKPA 학부모회 회원이 아닌 경우 회원가입 신청 필수)

• 현재 북클럽 리더로 활동 중이거나 새로 신청한 학생들도 사이언스 클럽 리더로 중복 신청이 가능합니다.

• 리더 선발은 리더 지원서와 인터뷰를 통해 결정되며, 기존 리더도 필요에 따라 인터뷰가 요청될 수 있습니다. 담당 학년은 8월 발표 예정입니다.

1.사이언스 클럽이란?

사이언스 클럽은 과학에 관심있는 고등학생 리더와 초등학생 및 중학생 아이들이 2025년 10월부터 2026년 5월까지 매월 소그룹으로 모여서 다양하고 재미있는 과학 주제와 교구를 가지고 토론하고 활동에 참여하면서 함께 성장해가는 대면 그룹 활동입니다. 3-8학년별 소그룹에서 아이들이 함께 모여 해당 학년의 레벨에 맞는 활동을 하게 됩니다. 

2025-2026년도 사이언스 클럽 활동에 참여하는 리더와 회원은 80불 후원금을 접수해야 하며 후원금은 교구 구입, 리더 교육 장소 대여, 사이언스 페어 주최 등을 위해 사용될 예정입니다.

2. 리더 활동은 무엇인가요?

사이언스 클럽 그룹 리더로 선정된 고등학생들이 각 소그룹의 리더로 배치되며, 한 소그룹 당 4-5명의 초등학생이나 중학생 아이들과 함께 매월 1회 대면으로 소그룹 모임을 갖습니다. 소그룹 리더는 과학에 관련된 다양한 주제를 가지고 소그룹 회원과 함께 토론하고, 샌디에고 한인학부모회에서 선정한 교구를 이용해 다양한 과학 활동을 이끌어 나갑니다. 또한 소그룹 회원과 함께 관심있는 주제를 선정하고 관련 활동을 진행한 후 내용을 정리해서 2026년 5월 샌디에고 한인학부모회가 주최하게 될 사이언스 페어에 참가합니다. 과학에 관심있는 고등학생 아이들이 다양한 활동에 소그룹 리더로 활동하면서 리더십을 쌓을 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것입니다. 

사이언스 클럽 리더는 8월에 실시되는 리더 오리엔테이션과 매월 1회 리더 교육에  반드시 참석해야 합니다. 또한 물리,로보틱스, 컴퓨터, 환경, 약학, 생화학 등의 전공 지식을 가지고 있는 사이언스 클럽 담당팀과 대면으로 모여서 9월부터 매월 1회 리더 교육 시간을 갖게 됩니다. 사전 리더 교육을 통해 소그룹 리더들이 소그룹 활동 내용을 미리 공부하고, 또 각자 맡은 소그룹 활동 진행 과정에 대해 토론하면서 그룹 토론 방식을 훈련할 예정입니다. 

리더 교육 및 소그룹 준비와 활동 시간은 한인학부모회를 통해 매월 최대 10시간까지 지역 사회 봉사시간으로 인정됩니다. 

3. 리더 학부모님의 역할은 무엇인가요?

SDKPA 사이언스 클럽은 매달 과학 실험과 활동으로 이루어지며, 이에 필요한 도구와 재료들이 다양하고 어른들의 감독이 필요한 경우가 많습니다. 성공적인 사이언스 클럽 활동을 위해서는 리더 학부모님의 적극적인 지지와 관심이 반드시 필요합니다. 아래 리더 학부모님의 역할을 참고하시어 가능하신 경우에만 신중히 리더 지원 부탁드립니다. 

• 실험 준비 지원: 소그룹 모임 시 필요한 실험 재료를 준비하고, 리더가 사전 모의 실험과 미팅을 할 수 있도록 돕습니다.

• 실험 안전 관리: 실험이 안전하게 진행될 수 있도록 직접 참관하거나, 그룹맘 또는 회원 부모에게 협조를 요청합니다. 

• 비용 환급 신청: 사이언스 페어 진행 시 사용된 비용에 대한 환급을 사이언스 클럽에 신청합니다.

• 공지 사항 전달: 학부모회에서 전달한 공식 공지 사항을 그룹 회원 학부모들에게 신속하고 정확하게 전달합니다.

• 사이언스 페어 준비: 그룹별 포스터를 학부모회가 정한 날짜와 방식에 맞춰 제출합니다.

4. 학년 리더는 무엇인가요?

학년 담당 리더는 다음 달 소그룹 미팅 내용을 매달 셋째주 일요일에 사이언스 클럽 담당팀으로부터 교육을 받고 매달 넷째주 일요일에 맡은 학년의 그룹 리더들에게 전달해 주는 역할을 하게 됩니다. 또한 추후 사이언스 클럽 교재 개발에 주도적으로 참여할 예정입니다. 

학년 리더들은 리더 교육 외에 별도의 소그룹 모임을 하지 않습니다. 학년 리더는 현재 이미 학년 리더로 활동중인 현 11학년과 그룹 리더로 활동 중인 현 10학년만 지원이 가능합니다.

SDKPA Science Club Leader Recruitment for 2025-2026

The San Diego Korean Parents Association (SDKPA) is excited to announce the recruitment of high school leaders for the 2025-2026 Science Club!

Over the past three years, the Science Club has thrived as a pilot program, growing steadily thanks to the enthusiastic participation of students and parents. Starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, SDKPA will officially transition the Science Club into an official regular program, and we are looking for committed high school leaders to help guide and inspire the next generation of young scientists.

LEADER APPLICATION

• Application Period: April 9 (Wednesday) 9:00 PM – April 12 (Saturday) 9:00 PM

• Applications will not be accepted after the deadline.

• Applicants must include their parent’s name, email, and phone number on the form. Parents should ensure this information matches their SDKPA registration.

• Current Science Club Leaders who wish to continue must reapply within the application period.

ELIGIBILITY

• Current Science Club Leaders:Open to 9th-11th graders (Current 12th graders are not eligible).

• New Applicants:

• Carmel Valley, Rancho Peñasquitos/Bernardo regions:Current 8th-grade students who are either active Science Club members or have applied to a group in the past three years.

• 4S Ranch, Scripps Ranch, Chula Vista regions: Since there is no 8th-grade group this year, current 8th and 9th-grade students may apply regardless of their prior SDKPA Science Club experience.

• Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

• The leader parent must be an SDKPA member. (✪ Parent membership registration is required before applying: Join SDKPA here)

• Book Club Leaders (current or new applicants) may also apply.

• Leader selection will be based on the application form and an interview. Current leaders may also be asked for an interview if necessary. Assigned grade levels will be announced in August.

1. What is the Science Club?

The Science Club is an in-person program where high school leaders and elementary/middle school students meet once a month from October 2025 to May 2026 to explore engaging science topics and activities. Students in grades 3-8 participate in hands-on experiments and discussions designed for their grade level.

Participation Fee: $80 per student/leader (used for group activity materials, venue rentals, and Science Fair expenses).

2. What does a Science Club Leader do?

High school leaders are assigned to small groups of 4-5 elementary or middle school students. Leaders will facilitate monthly group meetings, lead discussions on various science topics, conduct hands-on science activities using materials provided by SDKPA, and guide their group members in developing a project for the 2026 Science Fair in May.

All science club leaders must attend the mandatory Leader Orientation in August and Monthly Leader Training Sessions starting in September.

These training sessions will be led by SDKPA committee members with expertise in fields such as physics, robotics, computer science, environmental science, pharmacology, biochemistry, and more. During the training, leaders will gain scientific knowledge and develop discussion facilitation skills to effectively lead their groups. Leaders can earn up to 10 community service hours per month through SDKPA.

3. What Are the Responsibilities of a Leader’s Parent?

The SDKPA Science Club conducts monthly science experiments and activities that require various materials and adult supervision. The active support and involvement of a leader’s parent are crucial for the club’s success. Please carefully review the leader parents’ responsibilities below and apply for a leader position only if you can fulfill these commitments for your child(ren). 

• Experiment Preparation Support: Assist the leader in preparing necessary materials for group meetings and help conduct trial experiments and monthly meetings.
  
  

• Experiment Safety Supervision: Ensure experiments are conducted safely by attending meetings in person or coordinating with group parents for supervision.
  
  

• Expense Reimbursement Requests: Submit reimbursement requests to the Science Club for expenses related to Science Fair projects.
  
  

• Communications and Announcements: Relay official announcements from the SDKPA committee with group members’ parents accurately and in a timely manner.
  
  

• Science Fair Preparation: Ensure the group project poster is submitted according to the guidelines and deadline set by the SDKPA.

4. What is a Grade Leader?

Grade Leaders receive advanced training on the upcoming month’s Science Club activities from the Science Club committee. They are responsible for relaying this training to Group Leaders as peer mentors and liaisons. Grade Leaders will also assist in developing future Science Club curriculum and hosting the annual Science Fair. No small group meetings are required for Grade Leaders.

Eligible applicants are current Grade Leaders (11th grade) and current Group Leaders (10th grade).
