Hi everyone,

I will not be regularly organizing San Diego Hacker News meetups every
month anymore.

The meetups are usually on the last Friday of the month. We used to do
them at Pangea/O'Brien's, but recently they have been at
Ansir/O'Brien's. All previous meetups are listed on http://sdhn.org/

If you are interested in continuing the last Friday event, starting a
new regular event, or organizing one-off event, *please email me*.

Planning an event is as simple as:

1. Create an event on EventBrite.com (you can copy past event formats)
2. Send out an email about the event to this mailing list
3. Make a pull request to to the SDHN.org website listing the event:
https://github.com/sdhn/sdhn.github.com/blob/master/index.md
4. Post the event to Hacker News

I am happy to answer questions about planning events or help out in any
way I can.

I'd hate to see this die, since I started it with Jacob some 4-5 years ago.  If there isn't an active member that steps up.  I'll do it.

Hi Trey

Thanks for organizing! I'm happy to take over. I'd like to get better connected with the HN community in San Diego (I moved here a couple years ago from San Francisco). Can I ask why you'll no longer be organizing?

Thanks
Grant

Hi Grant,

There are a number of reasons I am no longer interested in organizing.
I have other events that have been competing with my time in the
evenings. I help co-organize a number of tech meetups in San Diego and
this one is one too many. I also haven't read Hacker News in many
months (though reading HN is not a prereq for organizing). This meetup
has slowly fallen down my list of priorities and I think it's time for
someone else to take over.

For the next organizer, I do recommend finding backup organizers who can
take over as needed.

Grant, I can help you setup the next meetup (on July 31 if you plan to
keep the same date).

Hello Hacker News Meetup folks,

I have a problem for which I can pay for help. My new company needs to become rapidly acquainted with Java app coding, especially the Java variant (Dalvik, ART?) that runs on Android, and including the back end (bytecode, run-time environment, libraries). The best way is for someone to write a template, from source code to running app, and then guide us through the build process in a couple of tutorials. Anyone interested please get back to me, and we can set up a group meeting in a non-Ansir location and go into more detail.

Thank you,
Larry Dickson (the Crawl-Space Computing guy)

Hello all,

This offer still holds. We have been running certain small binaries on our Android ARMv7 tablet device, a Samsung S2 T710, but we have been able to get nothing to compile for it. To be precise, we have at least three pre-existing source projects (from sourceforge or github) and no cross-compiler, NDK, or SDK including Android Studio has ever successfully compiled any of them for a 32 bit target. (For some reason, a 64-bit aarch64 compile worked once, but the ELF file was rejected by our 32-bit ARMv7 tablet OS.)

I’m sure it’s some minor version conflict or missing specification in each case, but the diagnostics are not helpful, and recipes found on the Internet do not apply. We are looking for consulting help.
