Unfortunate for who?

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time a second group has started
up. Two groups cannot exist in Sioux Falls at one time. One of them
will always be abandoned. It is unfortunate that this has happened.

anonymousgeocacher, would you like to elaborate on why the two groups
were not able to exist in the past? My understanding was that the
eastern_sd_geocaching group was the second group, not the first.
Personality conflicts, differences in opinion, criminal activity?
LOL...just curious. Thanks!

It is unfortunate for everyone. With two groups, generally one of them
is abandoned. It is really sad that someone thought that a second
group was needed. If you didn't like something about the first one why
wasn't anything said? The way I see it, with multiple groups only one
of them gets used. Looks like people would rather form factions that
become a unified Geocaching community and that is really
disappointing. With publications and events on learning that the
Eastern South Dakota Geocachers have provided in the past I would have
thought they were doing an excellent job. Why start over?

Thanks for the comments, I don't feel like its starting over I'm not asking or advocating that anyone leave any group it's just another venue and I hope there is room for everyone if anyone wants to post events for the other group here that's fine. If the group gets ignored so be it but it is at least a venue where all is welcome.

Mike, that is interesting that you should say that when you yourself
have abandoned the other group already.

I don't think the start up of this group was intended to divide.  From what I understand, it is to unify the entire state of SD with Eastern and Western SD allowed to hear news and share ideas of geocaching.

I'm getting information from both this group and Eastern SD Group and I enjoy learning.  Unfortunately, I haven't had time for a response until now and it has to be a defensive comment.

About Rm104's question to type of caches that I like to find.  I love them all.  I appreciate quick and easy at times, and I enjoy the intensely difficult that are out there too.  I like searching, I like finding.  Walks are good, bugs are bad, but either way it is the thrill of the find and the friendships I've made while caching that makes it the most enjoyable for me.

Yes that is true I wasn't reading the posts and wasn't using that group, but have you anywhere see where I asked for others to leave. I still planned to attend events and participate (if you'll have me). If you would like I can rejoin if you would like but since I wasn't planning on reading or posting I dropped the yahoo group nothing against the group or any member of the group. I know your anonymous and all but by posting that you have outed yourself as a moderator of that group. As I did not make that public. I did not start this group to have arguments I am sorry if my starting this group upsets you let's agree to disagree and let bygones be bygones.

Thanks

I have not outed myself at all. The list of members is public. You are
not in that list. The fact that you have left because you won't post
or read seems to indicate that you would rather see this group be the
only group. As I have said in a previous reply, I would rather see a
unified group instead of two separate groups, I too believe that
arguing is counterproductive.

Let me ask you this then, do you plan on holding your own events? Will
you start your own newsletter? What is the purpose of this group?
Unless they are different from the original, why start a new one? If
there was something you disapproved of why not speak up?

I don't see the purpose of having someone post news or information
three or four times so that everyone can see it.

The direction of the group will follow what the members would like. Speaking of members if you would like to take private feel free to my email address is mbake...@gmail.con or @yahoo.com and you may have a few others as well

Thanks again for the discussion

I actually appreciate the two different groups. I am not welcome in
the Eastern South Dakota Geocaching Group, so I am happy there is
another venue where I can talk about caching and interact with other
people who share a similar interest. It might be a little gutsy to
let me be a part of this group, but I want to thank Mike for taking
that risk :)

Danielle, I invited you back to the Yahoo group. You are welcome to
rejoin.

I have also invited you to the Facebook which you haven't joined
either.
