She moved into the Mess Hall debating in her mind if she should bring it
up or not carrying the vegetables she and the new CSO had just gathered.
Kaarg was busy behind the counter with something, his back turned to the
room. As Becky approached, he turned, "Wha-?" He growled before
realising who it was, "Hello," he finally managed. It didn't sound like
much of a greeting, but then, that was Kaarg.
Now she was really unsure about bringing it up but he was her friend at
Least she hoped he considered her a friend and she wanted to be there
for him to do any ceremonies he may need to do. Most Klingon's are
honord to discuss what house they are from.
Instead she looked at him a moment, "I have some more veggetables from
the garden. I thought I'd bring them to you." as she spoke her voice
was
very soft but full of concern.
Kaarg grinned, "Thank you. I was hoping there would be some more of
these ready soon. Taste much better than the replicated stuff. What's
the matter? You look edgy...?" Kaarg put the stuff on the table behind
him.
"Well. . . I was curious about something but not sure how to bring it
up. Not really sure if I NEED to bring it up." She added. "I value
your
friendship and I'm not sure how my question might affect it." she said
honestly.
Kaarg leaned on the counter and raised an eyebrow. "I've had enough
awkward questions thrown at me since the last away mission to last me a
lifetime. Do you want a drink?"
"Just a cola please." Becka said, "It's not exactly an awkard question
its just more of a student do teacher question about what house you are
from. If I'm over stepping my bounds I'll drop it but I don't recall you
ever mentioning it."
Kaarg's face darkened, but he said nothing and went and got the cola,
placing it before her with a 'clink'. Kaarg was obviously unhappy. The
sort of unhappy that was usually followed by lots of shouting and the
odd broken bone. "Do you want anything to eat?" he asked.
Letting out a sigh Becka decided not to keep pushing, "Cheeseburger well
done and onion rings," she said wishing there was something she could do
to cheer Kaarg up.
Kaarg moved to the grill and started cooking in silence, returning after
a few minutes, "One well done Cheeseburger with onion rings." The
burger was real meat, but the rest was replicated. Kaarg was a firm
believer that meat should always be real, where possible. He had minced
the beef himself adding his en spices to make it quite spicy, but not
overpoweringly so.
Becka took a bite of the burger and smiled, "This is very good." she
said Then took a sip of her soda. "I'm sorry if I crossed the line, I just
considered you a friend and wanted to know more about you as a friend.
I'm not the kind of person to go telling everyone other's business."
Kaarg nodded, "Nothing personal. It's a little..... Complicated is
all. I mean you no disrespect or dishonour. Maybe one day I will tell
you but for now, you will just have to settle for Kaarg of no fixed
abode. Other than the Scylax of course!" Kaarg grinned, trying to
lighten the mood a little.
"I would be honored to have you as a part of my house." Beckca
said her voice sincere as she looked at Kaarg.
Kaarg coughed suddenly choking on the drink he had just started to sip,
"What?" he asked, "What do you mean by that?" He wondered if she were
offering herself as mate. She was nice, for a Human and at least knew
the rudiments of the warrior way but he was not looking for a mate and
didn't consider her suitable for that, anyway. He didn't trust himself
to speak, just in case that was what she was offering. He wouldn't want
to hurt his friend, but the answer would be a definite 'No.' Besides,
when he did eventually get the the halls of his ancestors, Graal would
kill him.
Rebecka realized what he was thinking, "No not THAT, I just mean you are
a great warior and friend and would be honored to have you fighting by
my side in any battle." She sighed, "I don't know why you don't want to
go into it but I'll respect your wishes just know that you DO have
family on board this ship."
Kaarg grinned at her, "Don't worry, my friend, you aren't getting rid of
me so soon. I'm sure we'll be fighting side by side at some point so
keep practicing. I won't tell anyone what you just offered me. Though
it was tempting," he teased her, a wolfish grin on his face and a
sparkle in his eye. He had thought about the "Why not? What's wrong
with me," tack, but that wasn't at all his style so he left it open at
that and continued to grin at Becka.
"You said you like opera, I have a movie called 'Phantom of the Opera'
it happens in an opera house and is one of my favorites. Maybe you'd like
to see it some time?" She said then took another bite of her burger.
Kaarg shrugged, "Phantom of the Opera. May the Gods help any ghost who
haunts a Klingon Opera." Kaarg laughed. "Maybe you should introduce
yourself to Klingon Opera then you can see whether you think this
'phantom' movie would be a thing I would enjoy?"
Rebecka laughed, "Maybe I should, I'll watch one then let you know."
She said then finished the rest of her meal.
Kaarg nodded, clearing away the plate, "Hope you enjoyed the meal," he
said, taking another drink from his tankard, "I'll send one to you and
you can tell me what you think."
"Thanks, and if you ever do want to talk about things that are bothering
you I'm a good listener." She said as she got up to leave.
Kaarg didn't say anything as she left. One day maybe, when honour was
restored and those he sought caught, he could return home and put his
family name where it belonged.
