[Starbase 517, Promenade]

Naya breathed a sigh of relief. Shifting the bag on her shoulder she walked down out of the turbolift. The Main Concourse of the promenade was a large, busting area. Off along the sides she could see the grand viewports showing the stars beyond. It was good to be back in Space, even though she had spent the last almost half year back on Trill. Her acquisition of the Drasil symbiont almost a year ago had been very rough, and very sudden. She will always remember the site of the mortally wounded Captain Edron Drasil, her Commanding Officer on the USS Lancelot. It had been a jarring transition for the new Chief Engineer who had barely known her Captain, to suddenly know every facet of his life, experience, every feeling. Waking up with the Symboint had been both exhilarating and terrifying. She barely had a chance to find her equilibrium, for she had to immediately engage in a mission to find his killers.

But that was some time ago, and she had found the peace she was looking for on Trill, and she was very happy to resume her duties as a Starfleet Officer, but for now, she had a meeting with someone that proved just what a small galaxy it was.

The sounds and smells of the Klingon Restaurant made her smile. The figure she was looking for was seated at table near the corner, looking down a steaming plate of gagh. “Commander Leek?” She asked.

The boyish-faced man looked up and grined, standing to shake her hand. “Lieutenant Commander David Leek, nice to meet you Lieutenant.” They sat. “Would you care for some Gagh, Lieutenant?”

“No thank you Sir, I prefer gladst myself, though I’m not a very big fan of Klingon food. Doesn’t agree with my stomach.” She grinned, “Though it does bring back Edron’s memories; he worked with the Klingons during the Dominion War. I think he ate enough gagh for all future Drasil hosts.”

“Edron Drasil…he was the Captain of the Lancelot wasn’t he? He was XO to Aurora Celeste before that…interesting. I’m most likely going to be Celete’s XO, once Starfleet figures out what’s in store for us.”

Naya nodded, “Yes, congratulations on your Command position sir.”

He smiled. “Thank you, and might I say congratulations for the transfer into Blue. Science is the best way to go, but of course I am biased.” He took a large mouthful of the large, serpent-like worms. A water brought Naya her gladst, and she began to slowly eat the leafy-brown food. “You will find the Scylax to be a fine ship. She has a good crew, and you’re department has two notably skilled individuals, Ensign Soens, and a civilian scientist of remarkable skill, Rebecka Sanders.  Our crew was able to get us out of some uniquely tricky situations in our last mission,” he said, referring to the retrieval of the Domenica from Romulan Space.  “Have you met the XO and CO yet?”

She shook her head. “No, not yet.  But I plan to shortly. I wanted to make sure I was well informed about my department first.”

He nodded. “Good idea. Well, let me fill you in on the Department’s recent operations,” the two officers began their turn over.
