This August, you are invited to go behind-the-scenes with sustainability at SCU. Every week, we will offer a different tour to take you in-depth on a specific topic. Sign up for one or all of them. Space is limited in certain tours, so RSVP soon!

8/18, Waste Diversion at Facilities - see our waste stream first-(gloved)-hand!

Join us for the remaining tours! SCU employees are invited to go behind-the-scenes with sustainability at SCU. Every week, we will take you in-depth on a specific topic. Sign up for one or all of them. Space is limited in certain tours, so RSVP soon!
8/18, Waste Diversion at Facilities. 10am
Tour the Facilities yard to see how our recyclables, landfill waste, and compostable materials are stored before they are transported to their various destinations. Participate in a mini waste characterization to see what SCU’s waste stream is comprised of. Learn what SCU has done and is planning to do in order to achieve Zero Waste to landfills by 2020. Attendees must wear closed-toed shoes.

Visit our landfill and commercial composting facility in Milpitas. See how SCU’s commercial composting process works.
8/25, Climate Neutral by 2020, 10am
Learn about SCU's energy efficiency programs and our plans for reaching carbon neutrality by 2020. You'll hear about the campus' efforts to reduce energy use and get up-close-and-personal to our rooftop solar. This session is limited to 15 participants.
