We have another immediate replacement position at DOE.  There is still about 1 year left on my contract.  With DOE they prefer that the replacement candidate start so that there is a one week overlap with the guy whom the replacement will be replacing.  Obviously if at all possible I would like to be able to do that so we need to move very quickly on this.

PLEEEEEEASE REMEMBER THAT DOE HAS A 7 HOUR BILLABLE DAY AND NOT 8 HOURS.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WHOEVER YOU SUBMIT, HIS/HER RESUME MUST SHOW THAT THEY HAVE 12 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.

The requirement is as listed below.  I know they are calling the position an SOA/ESB Architect however the guy who currently has the job is more of a Websphere Message Broker Architect (if that helps you any).

The client has standardized on and implemented a common middleware infrastructure (ESB) in its
efforts to support SOA as the solution delivery architecture. The architect will be part of the shared
implementation team responsible for creating and owning the piece of enterprise architecture as needed to
support the SOA implementation.

The individual in this role provides consulting services to project and application development teams
regarding the application of SOA technology standards. He/she leverages vast knowledge of the
capabilities and constraints of their technical area coupled with broad understanding of business processes
to provide sophisticated architectural guidance to the IS community.

The architect will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Provide technical foundation and subject matter expertise for the Integration Center of Excellence
(ICE) governance model, ESB architecture – short-term and long-term, and integration of ESB
architectural approaches with DOE’s Enterprise Architecture

Serve as a point technical leader for application development teams and provide clear guidance
around SOA design techniques

Assist with setting the direction in defining the ICE standards and the approach to leveraging
ESB services and deploying the ESB governance mechanisms and IT infrastructure

Ensure Service implementation consistency, speed of delivery, and promote reuse through
creation of reusable middleware assets

Develop design documentation for the Business Service Processes (BSPs) based upon a standard
framework and requirements

Utilize UML modeling tools to create sketch designs in support of BSP design documentation

Provide subject matter expertise based on past experiences of SOA and ESB implementations

Provide technology blueprints, roadmaps, optimization and migration strategies for future
applications

Key capabilities / competencies -
• 12 + years of progressive industry experience in the field of Middleware/SOA Architecture
• Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Architecture and design
• Must have demonstrable experience implementing SOA/ESB programs in large organizations
with diverse technology infrastructure

• 8+ years of experience in enterprise platform product implementation with broad exposure to
different industry leading technologies such as Java, C/C++, JMS, MS .NET, Web Services/SOA/

• Experience working with IBM Websphere Message Broker, WSRR and MQ Series
• Experience in writing approach documents, whitepapers, and design documents
• Communication and organization skills to influence, mediate and/or persuade technical leads to
Senior Management
