1. GIS in Monitoring and Evaluation 19 Feb- 1 March/ 15- 26 April 2024

Data Collection- Management- Updating- Analysis- Visualization- Reporting

This is a comprehensive ten-day course designed to help participants learn and understand how to use GIS in project Monitoring and Evaluation. The participants will be exposed to data collection, management, updating, analysis, visualization and reporting in a GIS environment. They will also learn how to integrate spatial and non-spatial data from different sources and display the same in a GIS environment. (detailed course outline attached)

2. GIS Fundamentals 26 Feb- 1 March/ 22- 26 April 2024

This intensive course provides the foundation for Understanding and appreciating GIS, What it can do, and How others are using it.
Participants shall learn the basic functions of a GIS, GIS Terminology, Data analysis, retrieval and visualization, Create maps, query a GIS database, and perform spatial analysis.
By the end of the training, participants can use their data to create maps, perform analysis, and share information with their audience (colleagues, donors, government, non-GIS users etc) (detailed course outline attached)

3. Advanced GIS (Geodatabases & Advanced Analysis) ( 4- 8 March/ 29 April- 3 May
This course is intended for users already familiar with the basics of QGIS and who want to
improve their skills.  The course will focus on Advanced Analysis regarding the management
and manipulation of raster data, and spatial analysis, using PostGIS and relational databases. The course
is structured in units with different levels of difficulty to help the student learn to handle the advanced QGIS tools. (detailed course outline attached)

4. Web GIS & Mapping 11- 15 March/ 6- 10 May
Web mapping is the process of using maps delivered by geographical information systems (GIS) on the Internet through client-server architecture.
Web mapping usually involves a web browser to consume services.
These services include interactive maps, GIS data and location-based services.
Participants will learn how to prepare and share geographic information so that it can effectively be used by colleagues, decision-makers, and non-GIS audiences. (detailed course outline attached)

5. Mobile GIS & Mapping (Using COMMCARE) 18-22 March/ 27- 31 May

This course aims at providing a complete field-to-office mobile mapping workflow to the participants. Participants shall use their mobile devices (Mobile Phones, Tablets and GPS) to collect data, load the data into GIS and create maps from the data collected. The course will enable the participants to also edit existing databases in the field and create new data using field data collection techniques (Kobo and ODK).
(See attached course outline.)

6. Statistical and Spatial Data Analysis and Visualization using R 25- 28 March

The course will:

  • Introduce participants to R as a quantitative data analysis tool
  • Enable learner master R software and R-studio as a user interface
  • Enable learners to import data from various sources
  • Introduce basic statistics for exploratory data analysis including methods for describing and summarizing variable distributions
  • Provide essential skills for data manipulation including selecting subsets and recoding
  • Introduce the visual representation of variables in scatter graphs, bar charts, and histograms
  • Introduce users to the use of R for spatial data analysis and map making (detailed course outline attached)

7. Qualitative Data Management & Analysis using NVivo  (Big Data Analytics) 15- 19 April

This course aims to provide participants with the strategic understanding and applied skills in planning, conducting, and analyzing, reporting findings from qualitative research. At the end of the course, participants will be able to plan, conduct, and critically assess the quality of the qualitative data gathered during their data collection process. Participants will also learn how to use NVivo 12 in Qualitative Data Analysis. (detailed course outline attached)

8. Data Management and Analysis using SPSS 22- 26 April

Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) is a comprehensive and user-friendly statistical software for researchers providing visualization and data analytical tools. Participants shall explore the statistical capabilities of SPSS ranging from simple percentages to complex analyses of variance, multiple regressions, and general linear models as well as to generate tabulated reports, charts and plots of distributions and trends. Participants will review several statistical techniques, gain an understanding of when and why to use these various techniques as well as how to apply them with confidence, interpret their output, and graphically display the results.
(detailed course outline attached)

9. ArcGIS Pro Fundamentals 29 April- 3 May

ArcGIS Pro is a full-featured professional desktop GIS application you can use to explore, visualize, and analyze data; create 2D maps and 3D scenes; and share your work to ArcGIS Online or your ArcGIS Enterprise portal.

This fundamentals course shall explore the following:

  • Explore the full spectrum of tools and capabilities of this powerful tool
  • Overview of ArcGIS Pro
  • Differences between Pro and Desktop
  • Overview of key topics associated with pro
  • Creating a map from start to finish (detailed course outline attached)

10. ArcGIS Online Training 13- 17 May

This is a comprehensive ten days course designed to help participants learn and understand how to use ArcGIS online, a cloud-based mapping platform that offers collaboration tools for creating, visualizing, editing and sharing spatial information and also learn how to use ArcGIS Survey123 to create surveys, get answers and analyze results. (detailed course outline attached)

11. Mobile GIS using Survey 123 & QField 20-24 May

Utilize Survey123 items (forms, web maps, tabular reference data, survey records) stored in your ArcGIS Online and;

  • Benefit from a simple, intuitive data-gathering solution
  • Create, share, and analyze surveys easily
  • Use your mobile device to collect data
  • Analyze results quickly for insightful decision-making. (detailed course outline attached)
