I would like to follow up with you to check whether you were able to go through this email communication.

 

As we discussed during the phone call this morning, DRC Mobile Response Team is preparing for the Kaka mission as we wait for the green light from you on the Kaka deployment. The team plans to deploy on Friday this week. Could you please go through the email communication below and respond so that we are on the same page regarding the DRC SNFI Kaka deployment and access to the core pipeline items for the Kaka response following the needs analysis report which will be shared by Friday 17th/05/2024.

Dear Thomas and Upper Nile Cluster Team.

 

I hope you are doing great.

 

Following DRC’s response to the Upper Nile S/NFI cluster’s call for expression of interest for mobile responders and other static SNFI partners to respond to Manyo county, I would like to let you know that our management has given Mobile Response Team a go ahead for deployment in Kaka Payam of Manyo county.

 

There will be a multisectoral team comprising of SNFI, protection, mobile CCCM, and FSL deployed to Kaka tentatively on Friday 10^th/05/2024 to conduct a rapid multisectoral assessment to confirm the needs identified in the IRNA assessment (attached). This rapid assessment will then be followed up with a multisectoral response.

 

In the call for an expression of interest for partners to respond in Manyo county, the Upper Nile SNFI cluster indicated that “The SNFI Cluster has enough SNFI Stock in Renk and Malakal to support any interested partners to take the lead to respond.” Based on this, DRC Mobile Response Team plans to respond to the Kaka target of tentatively 1342HH with items from the pipeline in Malakal. DRC will support with the operation cost and logistics to move the SNFIs from Malakal to Kaka with a boat.

 

This email is an official coordination email for the DRC MRT deployment in Kaka. Please do reconfirm to us the availability of SNFI stocks in Malakal for the target case load in Kaka because our SNFI response in Kaka will entirely depend on the SNFI stock availability.

 

James Abe Alex and the Upper Nile SNFI coordination team, I spoke to Thomas Gattek this morning and he mentioned that he was travelling for a field mission and may have limited access to email communication. Feel free to chime in on this as the team prepares to deploy to Kaka.

Dear National and UN shelter cluster team,

 

A very much thank you for swiftly acting in the review and approval of the needs analysis report for Kaka-Manyo County. We are very much pleased at DRC. However, following the completion of the assessment phase we have had an internal review of our resources and are experiencing some significant operational constraints that will significantly impact on this missions operational cost as we will have to cover cost for the cargo shipment from Malakal to Kaka. With this in mind, I am afraid we are reconsidering our decision to continue the response process in Kaka. We are thus, requesting the cluster to advocate for another partner to continue the response and we are happy for any identified partner to make refence to the this needs analysis report to place the pipeline request.

 

DRC’s mobile team remains highly committed to serving the underserved crises affected communities in the hard to reach locations across South Sudan and will continue to engage with the cluster as always in subsequent endeavors.
