1. ArcGIS Online and Mobile GIS using Survey 123 & QField) 14- 25 August 2023 (Virtual), 11- 22 Sept (Face to face)

This is a comprehensive ten days course designed to help participants learn and understand how to use ArcGIS online, a cloud-based mapping platform that offers collaboration tools for creating, visualizing, editing and sharing spatial information and also learn how to use ArcGIS Survey123 to create surveys, get answers, and analyze results. You will also explore the various components that make up ArcGIS Survey123 and learn how these components fit into the ArcGIS Survey123 workflow.

Utilize Survey123 items (forms, web maps, tabular reference data, survey records) stored in your ArcGIS Online and;

  • Benefit from a simple, intuitive data-gathering solution
  • Create, share, and analyze surveys easily
  • Use your mobile device to collect data
  • Analyze results quickly for insightful decision making.

At the end of the training, participants shall have learnt the following:

  • Explore the many benefits of working with ArcGIS Online.
  • Participants shall learn the basic functions of ArcGIS online as a powerful tool for data analysis, retrieval and visualization.
  • Participants will be able to use ArcGIS Online to symbolize, style and label data, configure popups, and create a finished map
  • Participants shall learn how data can be uploaded to ArcGIS Online and then shared with colleagues and third-party users.
  • Participants will be able to use ArcGIS Online to subset data and use some spatial analysis tools
  • Participants will be aware of Map & Data Library services and know where to go for more help
  • The course shall provide a complete field-to-office mobile mapping workflow to the participants. Participants shall use their mobile devices to collect data, load the data into ArcGIS online and create maps from the data collected.

2. ArcGIS Pro (Migrating from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro) 28 Aug- 1 Sept 2023 (Face to face),  25-29 Sept 2023 (Virtual)

ArcGIS Pro is a full-featured professional desktop GIS application you can use to explore, visualize, and analyze data; create 2D maps and 3D scenes; and share your work to ArcGIS Online or your ArcGIS Enterprise portal.

The course shall explore the following:

  • Explore the full spectrum of tools and capabilities of this powerful tool
  • Overview of ArcGIS Pro
  • Differences between Pro and Desktop
  • Overview of key topics associated with pro
  • Creating a map from start to finish

3. Statistical and Spatial Data Analysis and Visualization using R 7-11 August 2023

Course Objectives:

  • Introduce participants to R as a quantitative data analysis tool
  • Enable learner master R software and R-studio as a user interface
  • Enable learners to import data from various sources
  • Introduce basic statistics for exploratory data analysis including methods for describing and summarizing variable distributions
  • Provide essential skills for data manipulation including selecting subsets and recoding
  • Introduce the visual representation of variables in scatter graphs, bar charts, and histograms
  • Introduce users to the use of R for spatial data analysis and map making

4. Qualitative Data Management & Analysis using NVivo  (Big Data Analytics) 14- 18 August 2023

This course aims to provide participants with the strategic understanding and applied skills in planning, conducting, and analyzing, reporting findings from qualitative research. At the end of the course, participants will be able to plan, conduct, and critically assess the quality of the qualitative data gathered during their data collection process. Participants will also learn how to use NVivo 12 in Qualitative Data Analysis.

Course Objectives:

  • By the end of this program, participants should be able to:
Understand the fundamentals of qualitative research
  • Understand qualitative data collection and analysis methods
  • Set up a project in NVivo and explore the function of NVivo
  • Create, import and work with codes and nodes in NVivo
  • Undertake deductive and inductive qualitative data coding using NVivo
  • Manage all project materials conveniently in one project file.
  • Deliver quality outputs backed by a transparent discovery and analysis process
  • Justify decision making with sound findings and evidence-based recommendations
  • Revisit data easily, build up the big picture perspective
  • Write a qualitative research report

5. Data Management and Analysis using SPSS 21- 25th August 2023

Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) is a comprehensive and user-friendly statistical software for researchers providing visualization and data analytical tools. Participants shall explore the statistical capabilities of SPSS ranging from simple percentages to complex analyses of variance, multiple regressions, and general linear models as well as generate tabulated reports, charts and plots of distributions and trends. Participants will review several statistical techniques, gain an understanding of when and why to use these various techniques as well as how to apply them with confidence, interpret their output, and graphically display the results.
