Econ subcommittee-

I can't be on this call - I am in all day meeting out of the office on
Tuesday.

I commented on the econ criteria that I received after the charrette and
have read these four documents also - I have no further comments at this
time.

I think it is shaping up pretty well. Thanks to all for their hard work.

Responding to comments during and after the 4/3 cross-CDSC coordination call that questioned but also supported the purpose of Economics criteria 6.8 and 6.9 on resiliance with respect to social and ecological risks, respectively, I have revised those criteria in the attachment to try to capture the economic performance of social and ecological practices. I will be "freezing" this draft for SC consideration later today, so please comment on short notice if possible. Regards,

Don

Can you say more about the intent of these changes?

We were counting practices in use right?  Here all they have to do is analyze them but not implement? Is this correct?

Jesse, I really appreciate that you take the time to review and provide comments.

Yes, I think it wasn't clear why we were counting social and ecological practices under an econ criterion when the social and environmental criteria would do essentially the same thing. My intent was to provide incentive for operations to analyze the effects of implementing these practices on their economic performance, to strengthen the connection to the economic aspect of sustainability and potentially provide a useful outcome measure for those practices. I suppose they could just count the up-front costs and not the longer term benefits, so we might have to specify what constitutes an acceptable analysis. If I was mistaken, we can revert to the original. I don't know if we can poll the econ group before the freeze, so how to decide? Best,

Don

Makes sense – as long as the number of practices in use is counted somewhere else in the standard. I can support it.
