Hi all.. I am relatively new to the area and need some suggestions for New
Year's Eve events.

I am basically looking for a formal dinner and dance, where my girlfriend
and I can have our own table. I have reservations at the Seascape Resort,
but they can only offer seating for 10 people per table. Bummer! I would
rather not share dinner with eight people I don't know.

Please post any suggestions here so that others may see them too!

TIA

Shadowbrook in Capitola is a great place for a formal dinner, but no dancing.
You can get a table for two on New Year's Eve (or at least you could 3 years
ago last time I tried) but they may already be booked.

For dancing in the street--but definitely not formal--both Santa Cruz
and Monterey are hosting "First Night" celebrations. In Santa Cruz it
will be basically all of Pacific Avenue, culminating at the clock tower
at midnight. Don't know where Monterey has theirs.

Avocado street, of course. Or, well, at least, um, thats where it was
a few years ago... [ok, ok. Alvarado street...]
