Namaskar and namaske,

On behalf of the Scrum Alliance, I am pleased to announce a public ScrumMaster certification course at the Grand Hotel in Kathmandu, 28 - 29 November 2011. This is a two-day course where you learn the fundamentals of Scrum, and receive Scrum Alliance certification as a Certified ScrumMaster®, contingent on taking an exam after the course. This course is being sponsored as an outreach event by the Scrum Alliance, which is underwriting the costs for the course. You can read more about the event at:

and you can register at:

Please include your current employment or education situation and gender in the application comments.

We are charging a registration fee of 10,000 Nrs. to ensure that each attendee shows commitment to the event. If you feel you could be a key contributor to Scrum in Nepal and feel that the fee is an obstacle, please contact me. You must arrange your own transportation and lodging if necessary. The event will provide lunch both days.

Registrations are open immediately. If we get fewer than 25 registrations we will be able to accommodate everybody. If there are more, the organizers will choose 25 attendees based on their fit for the criteria for the event, and by a lottery if further reduction of numbers is needed. The main criteria are:

- You must be a full-time resident of Nepal
- You may not be working for a company of more than 100 people
- Special preference given to individuals who register together with an individual of the opposite gender (you need not be related)
- Tie-breaker consideration give to those who register early

The organizers have full and final say over admission selections. Admissions will be announced before the end of October 2011.

Please forward this announcement to other lists where you think there would be interest, or to other potentially interested individuals. Let me know where else I should post this announcement. As always, please write to me if you have questions about the event. My colleague Laxmihari Nepal (laksh...@gmail.com) can answer questions about local arrangements, and I want to appreciate him for his work on behalf of this event.

I look forward to meting you in Kathmandu; it is my privilege to be able to come and work with you. Let's work together to change the world of work in Nepal!
