Is it possible for viewport to replace the built-in 404 error page?
If a user enters a bad URL that is outside the viewport, they receive the confluence error page (which can be confusing).

When in Viewport - they see Viewport 404 page. When outside Viewport - they see Confluence 404 page. This is expected behaviour.
But probably - you want to change this. Did you try Confluence redirection? But then, you might have to tweak the viewport permissions too - proabably...
