I purchased Viewport to help us improve the presentation of Confluence which we call SPOC (Single Point of Content). SPOC is internal and is not meant to be displayed externally. All users must log in to access it.
I considered Viewport for its promise to simplify coding. I am more expert in CMS such as Drupal or Processwire with an easy to understand interface and API. I have a limited knowledge of Java, but I can manage, and I can have some help from Java developers (unavailable for the moment) I understand the placeholders, templates, macros and the various elements of Viewport, but there is still a lot I don't understand.

My intention is essentially this:

1. Provide a portal and some read-only spaces. I am quite advanced in the work and the result is convincing.
2. Leave other spaces outside Viewport so that users can administer them themselves. These spaces are more technical, handled by developers.
3. I wanted to simplify the programming of SPOC without resorting to more complex manipulation of the Confluence files on the server. The way Viewport presents these files satisfies me.

I could have included everything in Viewport for visualization, but I discovered a few things I didn't like.

For example, I found out that:
1. Although a page can be edited in Confluence, the normal user is returned to the Confluence page and not the Viewport page when saving. They must then look for the tiny Viewport icon to return to Viewport. This double-click or triple-click is annoying.
2. I haven't yet seen how I can retrieve the excellent new Confluence search form. The one provided by Viewport seems to be limited the space? I want to give users the ability to search through any SPOC pages with the great UI of this plugin. In other words, I want to be able to call the Confluence plugin.

Is this possible, or should I resolve to develop my theme directly in Confluence (and therefore use a Java developer)? For a variety of reasons, I cannot access the original Confluence files, nor can I upload these files to the server. This may change soon, but I'm looking for a way to simplify the work on Confluence anyway).

Hi Guy. Thanks for reaching out to the Viewport Developer Group.

normal user is returned to the Confluence page and not the Viewport page when saving
Viewport supported this behaviour in "older" Confluence versions (before 6.7). However, after a change in Confluence, we decided to not support such redirect as it was difficult to find the solution. Therefore, Viewport won't redirect user to the Viewport view after editing. There are not plans to change this behaviour.

The one provided by Viewport seems to be limited the space?
You can search in other spaces in Viewport. Or even in all spaces. We have an article on how to achieve this with a custom theme: https://help.k15t.com/scroll-viewport/latest/search-template-recipe-137871030.html#id-.SearchTemplateRecipev2.11-SearchinAllSpaces

 Does this help?

Roman.
