Creating a separate section for translations

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out the best way to configure Scripto using the Scribe theme so that each transcription page features a separate section for a translation of the transcription.

I'm guessing that at the most difficult end of the spectrum of solutions is simply creating a new plugin that acts similar to Scripto but creates a separate MediaWiki page that's not based on Scripto's current filenaming convention (and then of course implementing links to the new page on each of the transcription pages). Unfortunately due to the time investment required for this and the deadline on this particular project I'm not sure if this is a feasible solution.

I was wondering if there was an easier way, ideally something along the lines of being able to create a global template that at the very least would feature the word "Translation:" surrounded by a few line breaks on every page, or even a div class that could then be split into two separate text forms.

Is this possible in a way I haven't figured out yet, or are there any other ways this could be done?

You could modify the UI and JS to make the "Discussion" tab the "Translation" tab. You'll have the same revision history as the transcription but Scripto provides no path to import discussion text into Omeka, so you'll have to do that by hand. If you don't need review history or any other MediaWiki features, you could write a plugin that appends a "Translation" textarea to the transcription page. You'll need to make sure to filter out harmful user input before saving it to the database.
