I think im missing the obvious as im sure this is quite an easy fix. But how do only allow transcription to be done by logged in users?

Currently anyone can transcribe and we want to make people register first, but I cant see where to enable this functionality.

thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

This is actually in the setup for wikimedia. You need to require account creation:

Good luck!

Brilliant many thanks, so obvious when you know it!!

I don't suppose there is a way for a user to register through omeka rather than goto mediawiki? Seems that users can login but not register?

Not that I know of, since the permission systems are separate. The way we have done this in the past is to create a google form to process the registration requests -- so that we create the accounts rather than the individual. That helps prevent spammer attacks.

HI Sharon,

Thanks again, I have modified our scripto to allow people to sign up directly into mediawiki through Omeka which seems to work well now I understand all the settings are in mediawiki :-)
