Hi all,

Thanks to everyone who has been working on the ScriptingRT project. It's really great. I've been working through the examples and adapting them to make my first experiment, and it's mostly working at this point. As a newbie to mxml and php, I have two questions.

First, after working through some kinks, I'm now getting it to generate an output file. However, now at the end of the experiment (immediately after the Finished button appears) another window pops up with what looks kind of like the contents of the output file. I'm attaching an example. This happens both with my own experiment and with the demos that I've downloaded from the website. Any idea what's going on or how to resolve it?

Second, I'd like to customize the format of the output a bit. Rather than having a header for each subject, I'd like to include the subject's IP on each line of the output file. I made the following change to the experiment file:

  protocolFormatItem="%clientIP%,%frameID%,%itemID%,%response%,%responseTime%"

However, it just prints "%clientIP%" on each line. This is happening even though it is successfully grabbing my IP for the header. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi Chris,

I believe this is something that is coming back from the server. Does it
also appear when you go back to the standard protocolFormatItem?

Regarding including %clientIP% - it looks like this info is not
available in the context where the individual lines are generated. I
would have to look into the code to see whether I can do someting about it.

Incidentally, I have been struggling today with my php script as well.
Did you set up your script on your own server? Does it save data with
both firefox and chrome?

To have a closer look at the problem, it might be useful to post your
.mxml etc. (here or in a blog post pointing to the original)

best,
thomas

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, it also appears with the standard protocolFormatItem. The .mxml can be found here. I'm using scriptingrt035.swc.

The %clientIP% issue is really just a matter of convenience. It would be easier to manage the data if the IP was on each line rather than in a header, but I can live with it if there's not an easy solution.

Regarding your question, I do have the script (scriptingrt.php) set up on my own server, and it seems to be saving data effectively in Firefox (Win7 and Mac OS 10.7), Chrome (Win7 and Mac OS 10.7), and Safari (Mac OS 10.7).

Thanks again!

Chris

Chris,

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, it also appears with the standard protocolFormatItem. The .mxml can be found here. I'm using scriptingrt035.swc.

When I send it to my server, it works fine. I think there is a problem in your php script. Check whether you have the proper version. the script with my server included is here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1009114/scriptingrt/MeNotMe.zip

I will have a look at saving the IP for every line as well.
