Hi,

After reading the manual it is rather clear to me what the possibilities are with ScriptingRT.
However, I still don't if it is possible to write my experiment with ScriptingRT.

One trial of my experiment looks likes this:

1. For 500ms pictures will be displayed of a shoe, table, knife and a pie. The different pictures will be arranged horizontally next to each other.
2. After 500ms a audiofile plays a sound: "shoe", "table", "knife" or "pie" (the pictures will stay on the screen).
3. Then the participant has to respond by pressing 'd', 'f'', 'j' or 'k' which corresponds with the horizontal place of the picture.
4. When the participant has reacted there will be a blank frame for 500 ms.
(I added a schematic of one trail to make it more clear)

After the blank frame the trial will start over again.

According to my experiment I have a few questions:
A) Is it possible to use more than 2 responses aside from one positive and one negative (so d, f, j and k)?
B) I don't want the participant to respond unintentionally in step 1. since this will make a mess of my data.
B) How hard is it to write this code? (I am totally new with scripting or IT, however when 1 trial is written I can figure out how to write more).

I hope someone can help me out here :)

Kind regards,
Ted Blankers

Hi Ted,

that will be the first challenge. It should be possible, but I believe
we have not tried it before.

that is the difficult part. NO, it's not possible. sorry about that.

Hi Thomas,

Thank you for your response. Too bad it is not possible for me to write my experiment in ScriptingRT.
However do you by any chance know another program where it is possible to do this with online?

Thanks again,
Ted

You can try DMDX and Inquisit - both can be run over the net, but people
have to download executable files and really trust you. Alternatively,
you could implement this in Qualtrics. The question is how big your
effects will be. I know no study that has properly validated the
precision you get out of qualtrics. You can also try Tatool, a
scriptingrt-like tool written in java

best,
t
