Why did you make the brain sparse?

The idea behind the sparse brain (the intentional setting of initial weights for many connections to zero, effectively making the connection nonexistant) was to simulate brain evolution. The idea was, since adding/destroying boxes and connections isn't possible in the program, the brain would be initialized with a large proportion of zeroed connections that, through mutations, would become active. These mutations would be like as if the program had created a new connection for the agent.

Paron, I mean Brain expansion, not brain evolution. The mechanic simulates brain expansion

Have you tried the opposite? Start the brain with many weighted connections, and let it trend toward sparseness. If so, how did that turn out?
