Hi. I love the idea and specifically being able to implement it.
Unfortunately, after 6-7 unsuccessful attempts I am pressed to write
to this group for help. I have wiped out all old attempts and I have
in the past 15 minutes:

1. Installed {last}WordPres 2.8.5
2. Made content folder writable
3. Uploaded and activated {last}Bsuite from WordPress website
4. Uploaded and activated {last}Scriblio from WordPress website
5. Change themes around
6. Dragged the Scriblio widgets in the sidebar
7. Entered one _absolutely _new _library _record

You can see my WordPress installation here: http://protestantstvo.com/w/?p=1
You can see my Browse page here: http://protestantstvo.com/w/?page_id=3
You can see my Catalog here: http://protestantstvo.com/w/?p=4

As seen, on the links above I see no records on the Browse page.
Most specifically, although I have dragged the Scriblio widgets in the
sidebar I do not see them in any way. Please advice.

Some additional information and doubts:
I am running Apache 2 on ubuntu4.3 with PHP Version 5.2.6-2 and mySQL
5.0.67
I have not redone the rewrite rules on purpose this time, but even
when I did them before as prescribed it did not work.

I have tested the installation with the Scriblio theme, but no luck.
On another theme, which has sidebar and 3 bottom bars I was able to
show one or two of the scriblio widgets at the bottom bar. Therefore,
my suspicions are that this problem has to deal with the sidebar
itself. I am open for any and all constructive advices. Thank you in
advance.

Hi again
I have spend one more day trying to get this thing going.
I have so far found that WordPress 2.8 presents several problems with
the widgets one being the footer, instead of the header java call.
I have made some progress using WordPress 2.7.1, but still no full
Widget support since apparently it needs the correct plugin versions.
Can someone who has a working Scriblio environment advice on a working
set of versions: WordPress, bsuite and Scriblio and perhaps
a theme, althaugh I can settle for the Scriblio default, which WILL
work when put all together - thanks a bunch

Hello,

I am not running 2.8.5, but I have two questions that I hope will help
me understand your problem a little better. Have you set up pretty
permalinks? Are facets activated like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scriblio/1691514456/
? Those are two problems I ran into while setting up Scriblio, so
maybe you are experiencing the same thing? Also, I'd just like to
recommend the Amazing Grace and Blue Grace themes, which look great as
Scriblio interfaces with a little tweaking.

Thanks!

Hi Shannon -

By pretty permalinks, you mean anything other than the default,
correct? Or is there a particular permalink structure that needs to
be used with Scriblio?

It would be helpful if there were a list of current working
implementations of Scriblio that included which WP version it is run
on, which Scriblio plugins are being used, any other plugins that are
running (without conflict with Scriblio), and the theme being used. I
think a list like this would help zero in on where the conflicts are
coming from. For example - when I first started playing with Scriblio
the theme I had chosen wasn't configured to display the facets
properly, and changing the theme fixed the issue. I realize there are
a lot of factors here that have to work together for this to go
smoothly, but maybe a list like this would be a place to start.

I am wondering if anyone has Scriblio running with WP 2.8.5, or if
there are conflicts between the plugin and this latest WP version?
Thanks - Lisa

That's right - "pretty" just means "custom". Here's the Wordpress documentation on permalinks:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

Reading up on Wordpress documentation went a long way for me in understanding what to expect from Scriblio.

Yes. You are right. It took me while to notice that the Scriblio and
Bsuite plugins are marked Compatible up to: 2.7.1. This is good to
know before installing. Coincidently, however, I had WP 2.9 on one of my
blogs, and there they worked flawlessly. WP 2.8.5 and the whole 2.8
series, as far as I could test, is definitely a no go, while 2.8.6 is
definitely not a reliable installation right now.

I was able to run the following configuration, thanks to Shannons
suggestion:

1. WordPres 2.7 (even 2.7.1 with different language)
2. Sbriblio - 2.7-r2
3. bSuite
4.0.6
4. Amazing Grace Theme the theme selection becomes important for the
setup of the gadgets later on, which is essentially the strength of this
powerful web library combination.

The step, which confused me the most, was the setting up of the gadgets.
May be it was just me, but I was not able to find an accurate
explanation of how to do, having watched a dozen times:

1. Make it shine Step of the tutorial did not explain much about gadgets
and facets.
2. Watch this 3-4 times to begin with:
http://www.viddler.com/misterbisson/videos/1/
3. This is helpful in few clear cut steps:
http://remainingrelevant.net/remaining/240 but again the connection
between the naming of the facets being present in the gadgets should be
much better explained.
4. No help here at all:
http://thetagginglibrarian.wordpress.com/2007/11/27/scriblio/
5. Some more to read here (if you like to read, which you obviously do
if you work with libraries):
http://www.libworm.com/rss/search.php?qu=scriblio&page=4

In my opinion, somewhere here:
http://about.scriblio.net/wiki/installing-scriblio/ (Scriblios
installation TOP hit on Google, it should say:
Pay attention to the most important part. Now setting up FACETS &
GADJETS.

I do intend to contribute this part when I fully figure out this step.
Right now I have it working, but I hardly know how except to say this:
(1) Go to Scriblio settings put HUMAN names to your facets
(2) Go to the WordPress Gadgets, put them in the side bar and before
activating them MAKE SURE their names (both machine and human) are the
same as the facets.

The main flow comes, from these two portions. First, different versions
of Scriblio have different set of facets. And then, WordPress makes it
no easier, as different versions handle the gadget setup process much
differently one from another. So to make it simple at the end, if you
have problem with Scriblio in your side bar your facets and gadgets are
NOT fixed up correctly.

Anyhow, beyond my sever criticism of this particular step a big thank
you to the creator. This is a great project. And having invested over a
week to figure out why it was not working for me, now I intend to use
it. This is my (somehow somewhat working) Bulgarian translation of

Thank you for taking the time to help me.

My facet list looks a bit different. I have updated the permalinks since my last post.\

I have tried just about every possible version combination. I am now running WordPress 2.7.1 Buite 4.0.6 (to escape the error from the WP 2.8.5 dependencies) and Scriblio 2.7-r2 (for luck of better suggestion).

I have used the suggestion to implement the Amazing Grace theme, which indeed nicely fits the Scriblio setting.

I have been able to show “some” facets in the sidebar, but certainly not all widgets are visbable, which is deeply unsatisfying after trying to get it to work for over a week now. I am not sure if I need to replace the custom CSS and where to get them from. Can any one please give me their WORKING combination of WordPress, Buite 4.0.6 and Scriblio versions to duplicate on my server? Thank you.
