I have just transfered my Scribe files into Zotero to give it a try
and discovered that many of my notes (note cards?) did not transfer
into files linked to their original sources. These stragglers appear
in Zotero as independent sourceless note cards. Any idea why this
would happen or how I can fix it, perhaps in Scribe before I export my
files. This brings up a question I had already, what is the
difference between notes and note cards in Scribe?

did you add your notes with "link new note" (this is what you were
supposed to do) or with "link new card". in zotero linked cards appear
in the related tab, and linked notes appear as child notes.

go to one of your notes that became an orphan and look in the
"related" tab--if you see the source there that is the problem. how
many of these do you have?

Elena,
It would appear that on about 150 or so notes (out of a few thousand)
I chose note card over new note in the first step. Luckily for me I
was careful with the keywords and so it was easy for me to select the
cards that went with the same sources and simply drag them into the
correct source (parent) file. So, I gather from this that note cards
in Scribe are the equivalent to stand alone notes in Zotero? David
