Do you guy intend to get rid of the "download", "twitter", and
"facebook" buttons for private documents? These buttons make no sense
for private documents, and even making them unselectable is not a good
solution since it looks like something is broken, or that there is
something that *might* be accessible if you could only figure out how.
It also adds visual clutter to something we are trying to make seem
simple.

It would be much better to just remove these buttons for the private
docs feature. It would seem this would be a trivial fix (perhaps 30
minutes), but as I recollect, it has been discussed before. Is this
something you guys are philosophically opposed to or is it somehow
harder than I am thinking?

Hi Hank,

Due to all the feedback we've received on this forum and directly, we've decided to make this change.  You'll see it going out soon.

Thanks for your help improving Scribd.

It seems as though most of the change has indeed been made. The Facebook and Twitter buttons are indeed gone. The only thing that remains is the download button.

Again I just need to ask the question, are you guys philosophically opposed to removing this, or did you forget?

Just in case you are opposed to removing it let me make the argument again as to why we would like to see it removed. The problem is that when something is dimmed it suggests that this is a feature that is available in another state or another circumstance. But download will *never* be available to users of our application in this manner. It makes people wonder if something is broken or missing. People wonder why they cant click on it. It just creates a customer service problem for us.

Please, please remove this.

Thanks
Hank

+1

Thank you for removing the social network links. I definitely agree with removing the download link by default, as well. But I'd also like to contest that ultimately it would be very nice if we could configure that for private documents (i.e. if our application logic deems it OK for this user to download this private document because the user is an admin in the system, for example), then we should be able to pass "allowDownload: true" into the iPaper widget upon instantiation...

Hank and William,

Yes, the social network panel links were removed mostly due to the
feedback we got on this forum.

Thanks for letting me know about the download links - I'll see what we can do.
