Problem zooming in on terrain mode

I've been working on a map in the terrain mode (the one that looks
like a topo map). I created an account for Pro, imported my map from
Google Maps, and it allows me to zoom in (it says 15/17 for the zoom
level, if I zoom in closer it says the information is not available,
which is fine, 15 is close enough). However, if I then attempt to
search for something, it kicks back out (the zoom meter says 12/12)
and it will not let me zoom in closer. This is the same zoom distance
I get in the non-pro version. The objects I need to locate (generally,
small brooks) are only visible on the terrain zoom of 14 or 15. For
some reason it appears that running a search kicks you out of Pro mode
as far as map zoom levels are concerned.

For now, I am using a very tedious workaround of dropping the
placemarker at the zoom level 12, saving, reloading pro, reloading the
map, and then I can just move the placemarker at the closest zoom
level. However, I have hundreds of placemarkers to add so a fix on
this would sure be pretty awesome!

Other than that, this is great. I had used Google Maps for my project
originally but the multi-paging issue with placemarkers is a big
problem. Google Maps isn't really suitable for creating maps with
thousands of placemarkers. It's also nice being able to separate my
waterfall locations into separate folders for different states.

Hey Justin,

This was a bug I discovered on the same day you posted it. It should
be fixed now, if it isn't try wipe your cache. Sorry about the
inconvenience.

Wow, thanks a lot for the quick fix. Rather than make a new thread,
I'll mention a couple other things I came across recently.

I am having a problem when placing new placemarkers and attempting to
enter a title. As soon as the placemarker is down and the little
window appears asking me to enter the information, any key I press
will cause that window to close. When I click the edit button to go
back and fix it, I can type it in normally. It's just the initial
entry that does this. It did not do it originally, so I think this is
either a new bug or something triggered by maybe having a certain
number of placemarkers. I don't know.

Is there a way to change the graphic used for a placemarker? I use
blue for locations I haven't been to yet and green for ones I have. It
would be easier to change the icon graphic than delete the old one and
make a new one.

Is there a way to a retrieve map ID? I created the map on my home
computer, where I made a text file to save the map ID. However, I want
to work on it at my office computer during down-time, but I have no
idea what the map ID is. Is the map saved locally or on the site? I
suppose if it is saved locally it doesn't matter anyway.

Thanks for the help and hard work!

Hey Justin,

In order for me to fix a bug, I need to be able to replicate it. If
you have a process I can go through to replicate it, that would be
awesome.

If you are using pro, there is a way you can change it using the KML
editor, however, I realize it is a little tedious. I do plan to make
it so you can swap marker images in the future.

Maps are not saved locally. You can trying doing a search using the
map directory www.scribblemaps.com/maps/ or you can try viewing your
history on your computer. Another way is to just get a pro account
pro.scribblemaps.com, all maps saved are saved to your account and you
can easily access them later.

Thank again for the quick response.

Regarding loading my maps... I do have a Pro Account, but for some
reason my map (which I found in the maps directory) is listed as
Author: Anonymous. I don't know why this is. It might be because I
initially created and saved the map in a non-pro account and have
since been working on it in Pro. Now that I have a pro account, how to
I take ownership of my map?

You can't really take ownership of a map made in SM.com, however what
you could do is create a new map and import the other map, that would
effectively put the map under your account.
