This exercise of wanting to write about chennai has driven me to take
a camera and go around to remember what the atmosphere is like.. It's
been an exciting new experience to see this long-loved place through a
camera lens... you see so much that you hadn't seen - exactly in that
detail - and again you see so much that you never did before...

Thanks Screenwriting group, for making me take this up!

Regards,
Shubashree

Mahesh Vaddi -Hi! I don't think I spoke to u at the workshop did I?
would u please tell me about yourself too?
I have started posting the photographs on my blog...

www.shubasblog.blogspot.com

I found the workshop extremely useful. I of course love films and got
to understand film language much better than I ever did...

I found it interesting that the speakers did seem to have read the
email exchanges and (I don't know if it was a coincidence) seemed to
use our own words and so on... It was partly therefore like being in a
live reading session where writers have their scripts read out amidst
audience...to see how effective your writing is...
Sometimes this served to boost my confidence level too... as it must
have others'.

Had a feeling that UTMOST care had gone into designing this - and
extremely high level of planning and organizing - as perhaps in a film
or play with many rehearsals and crores of money... But considering
the logistics - one question remains - How was something on this scale
possible.

All my friends were there - in voice if not corporeally! So good! It
felt all warm and cosy.

Were there many invitees apart from the 250 or so published names?
cause at times it seemed like I would have seen at least a 1000
different faces!!!

Made some good friends with whom I continued talking later...

The food was good - one day actually there was a mysore pak buried in
my sambhar rice but it turned out to be for the good because I seemed
to be a bit hypoglyceimic that day!

Usually in IIT-type workshops, they give books as a parting gift ... I
was half expecting to receive books by Campbell and Syd Field and some
films that would be a learning experience... In fact, there is still
time, such a bulk order would cost less and perhaps a list cd be
circulated and something of that sort achieved even now...

One criticism only - well only in the way it was done - (a) declaring
on the website that participants shd keep a respectable distance frm
the celebrity participants - Why? A small hint and we wouldnt have!!
Plus bodyguards and frowns when approaching some speakers...???

Guess that's it.. hope we all do something to warrant this major
effort on the part of the organisers...

Regards,
Shubashree
