Just installed Screengrab (0.96.1) on Firefox 3.5. First attempt was
a webpage with a white background, saved a PNG image... but, the
background is black.

More info...

It appears that the webpage in question does not explicitly set the
background to white... white just must be the default for Firefox. If
the html is altered to explicitly make the background white,
Screengrab's PNG will be white as well.

That said, I would expect a screen capture utility to create an image
that is what I saw displayed on the browser. Whether it is Firefox or
HTML/CSS making something look a particular way shouldn't matter to
the user.

Me too, same problem.
The official site is closed, I don't know the time when it is done.
Anybody does know how to fix? or an alternate software?

The html pages of my router or modem dont save properly. Background
white or black, incorrect colors, etc. The web html pages are perfect.
Thanks.

Hmm...

Okay people - I'm sort of back in action when it comes to Screengrab.
My daughter seems to be in some sort of routine so I have a small
slice of time in the evenings where I can do things. I've fixed the
website (serves me right for running an insanely old and insecure
version of wordpress) and now I'm going to do some SG fixing.

But... it's going to need to be efficient, so give me URLs! What
doesn't work? Something must have changed in Firefox-land, because the
code hasn't changed - that means this is going to suck to fix. But
tell me URLs and you'll make my life easier.

Except for you Luc. Since I obviously can't look at your router.

Unfortunately, the examples I ran into were protected pages (bank account info, that sort of thing).  But, it shouldn't be that hard to make a test page that reproduces the problem.  Just make a new text file that reads, "This is a test page."  Surround it with body and html tags.  Make sure the body tag doesn't specify a bgcolor, don't accidentally slip any CSS in there... name the file something.html, open in Firefox, and voila.

Wow! Just tested it. That SUCKS!
What a massive defect. I think I might be able to work around it, but
it's really an issue with the Firefox gang and the way they do canvas
backgrounds I'm guessing.
I'll see if they have a defect raised and see what I can do locally.

Hmm... It looks like they now think that a web-page with no background
colour configured is actually transparent. Previously it had the
default page background colour. How irritating.

I'll just change my canvas to have the default background colour when
I render the page into it (previously it was black, since it didn't
matter). That should solve the problem.

Look out for SG 0.96.2 as soon as I can cut it and put it up. It will
only fix this issue.

Cheers,
Andy

For those that aren't super-keen like Brian and aren't paying
attention to the issue tracker...
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/file/59229/screengrab-0.96.2-fx.xpi
This should be approved by AMO sometime, so if you don't pick it up
from here it should get auto-updated eventually.

Maybe I'm being dense but where do I get 0.96.2?

Hi, I am totally new to alll of this, however was delighted to find
this software as I have been struggling to get a complete screen print
of our home page. Today I downloaded firefox and added the screengrab
plugin and attempted a screengrab of our page http://www.holidayz.com.au

Firstly I tried a save, using JPG option, however when I went to use
it, it only showed type as 'file', not JPG. So, I then copied and
pasted the screengrab directly into adobe photoshop and all the
background is black! Maybe I've missed something in this post, but I
can't see how I get around this so that the background is white?
Would really love to have some feedback or help. Thanks, Jeanette

I have often used screengrab and think it is an excellent add-on.
However, with the updated Firefox 3.5 and screengrab 9.6.1 the
background of the screengrab comes out as black. I then downloaded
screengrab 9.6.2, but this time the background came out as grey! Is
there a solution to this problem. I will miss using screengrab if
there is no solution.

I had the same - my background then went to grey. I upgraded adobe and
tried again and it was white. Although flash advert was greyed out.
