Maybe I'm "thinking" wrong, but in fcpx and davinci it was convenient to add labels to certain sections of the timeline. For myself for notes. Then switch between them with hotkeys.
As I understand it, in scratch this approach is chased away. Judging by the documentation, markers are only used here to mark the beginning of the selection and the end. https://www.assimilatesupport.com/akb/KnowledgebaseArticle51007.aspx?Keywords=add+marker

You mean, the idea of doing something right away? Without analyzing the work material? You go through the whole track, remember what's where, think in your mind, and go ahead?
You can set notes in the program, but for scenes. That is, for already separate clips. Or do I misunderstand the documentation?
Or just, instead of markers, you need to cut the track in such a place - is that how it is here?

You can place notes anywhere you want. At any frame of any shot.

Not sure what you are asking/saying here

Just thought that since notes are added in the construct section, it's only for clips, not for frames. That's where the clips are posted.
Just, I'm not strong in English and it's one thing to read the text and quite another to quickly search for something on it, so as not to lose the thread of the idea of a certain approach.
I will think, where in these bricks) (clips) that in the tab construct, you can somehow manage to add an annotation, or a note, it is not on the clip itself, but on the desired frame. Well, it's not interactive understandable, sorry. I am trying to break the logic of the approach of habits from other programs.
Probably, if you read the documentation from beginning to end, it will become clear what you need.
Thank you for clarifying that the annotations, notes, you can add to the frame.

You can add shot notes in construct as is in the menu

Then in edit or color fx you can add a note at any point..swipe right of screen and click on meta data and you will see blank note at the top…you can add one at any time.

" STICKY NOTES/ NOTE TAG

Each shot in SCRATCH (as well as the Group and Construct items in the Project Tree) can have one or more Sticky Notes associated with it to annotate it. Clicking the tag in the upper-right corner opens the Note Editor. Alternatively you can use Quick Key: N while placing the cursor over the thumbnail.

By clicking the colored area in the Notes Editor you can enter text. The annotation is linked to the timecode displayed. The gripper next to the timecode allows you to drag the Editor across the screen.

The toolbar at the bottom of the Note Editor allows you to select the color of the current sticky note. Use the + and - buttons to add or remove a note. The left section of the toolbar shows you how many notes there are and what the current note it. Use the < and > buttons to browse through the different notes. Click anywhere outside the Editor or press the Quick Key: Esc to close it - all information is automatically preserved.

By default - if a shot has a sticky notes associated with it this is displayed in the thumbnail as an overlay. If a shot has multiple notes associated with it (of different status colors) the top bar of the overlay will show all the different colors. You can switch off the display of the overlay using the Construct Settings dialog - discussed later.

"

This is all great, but in "construct" I only see clips (shots). I don't need to make notes for whole clips (shots).

Switched to colorfx. (Only why the metadata is edited exactly in the section where the color work is done.)
Scrolled the clip to the desired frame. Added a note.
Scrolled back and added a second note.
Tried using the arrows to switch between notes. The notes switch, but no movement on the timeline. The playhead doesn't switch to the frames on the clip where I made the notes.
This makes sense if the notes were created for the entire clip (or clips) on the timeline. You only need to add a marker per frame.

Now they'll tell me this is the first time they've seen the person who needs it.)

In construct you have no way to determine which frame a nite should get applied to. You can only do that in the Edit or ColorFX tab, where you have a timeline / playhead.

To place notes and navigate them, switch navigation mode to Annotation Navigation.

The hotkeys (ctrl/alt/shift + left/right arrow) then let you jump directly to any color notes.
Annotations (as in on-screen mark-ups) which you can call up from the top menu bar are also treates as ‚notes‘ indicators on the mini timeline.

See this for reference:

Yes, but how do I add a note (albeit now not in construct) in this mode? There is not even a hint of being able to add notes to the frame there.
I tried using the brush to click on the frame in the viewport - the program disappeared somewhere, as if I did not run it.

Swipe right to bring up the version stack and at the bottom switch to the metadata tab.
At the top you‘ll find the color notes.

I'm only able to add a note for the whole clip there.
I don't understand the logic why I would only be able to add a note for the frame I want. For the frame. Not for a specific clip.

I guess we don't understand each other.)

For me, all questions about the program are closed.
It was very interesting and still Thank you very much for your help. It was nice to hear feedback on my questions.

just park on a frame (color fx or edit) and press „N“ while hovering with the cursor in the version stack and start writing ;)

I‘m sorry, but I fail to understand the problem.

You go to Color Fx, you open the right side stack, switch to metadata at the bottom, and then fill in the note.

That note will be added for the frame you are currently parked on.
If you then switch the navigation mode to annotation navigation, you‘ll see all note indicators on the mini timeline, like markers, and you can jump directly to them using hotkeys.
Notes are always applied to a specific frame, as you can also see via the TC information on the note itsef.

Not sure how much more clear I can be.

I'll try to explain why I ran out of questions. okay.
Every step in this program is a struggle for every brick, even in the very step.
You take the documentation and try to find something. It seems to have everything in it, but it looks more like a man page on console commands in Ubuntu than on documentation.
Okay. You prompted me to put a note standing playhead on a certain section of the clip.

" switch to metadata at the bottom, and then fill in the note".
The fact that you have to switch to the "metadata" tab at the bottom - it is even visually obvious that the tab is at the bottom. Switching.

" and then fill in the note"
All that comes to mind is that you can fill this out at the top, being in such a tab.
Filling it out.

" If you then switch the navigation mode"
I'm looking for a way to switch to this mode.
Isn't it better to look on the program's offline site? In the documentation? Right? That makes sense for any program. Well, if you don't get a hint, you can look on the Internet.
Searching through the documentation. https://www.assimilatesupport.com/akb/Knowledgebase.aspx

I type those two words into a search on a site like this.
https://www.assimilatesupport.com/akb/KnowledgebaseArticle50942.aspx?Keywords=%22navigation+mode%22

" To be able to navigate efficiently between different modules, it is important to get fully acquainted with the navigation model. For this it is you should keep in mind the different dimensions of a shot and a timeline as displayed in the diagram below."

Great.
I'm very glad it can and should be done that way. But how to switch into that damn mode! I searched for three hours through the documentation on how to switch to it and see these notes, but I couldn't find it.
Do you realize that if it's all like this in the program, it's just hell? To do something elementary, or courses, or questions on the forums ask. And in fact I myself do not like to write such a thing. As the saying goes, what you give, it will return twice.
It is easier to "let go". Very glad that this program has its own audience.

the whole annotation management is really huge in SCRATCH. like I said, just press “N” and you can write a note. You can search for it from the construct and use the search construct to apply gradings just on shots with that note colour f.e. You can use note navigation to quickly access a certain note colour. You can also map note navigation on the elements panel so that you can switch it on and off quickly. I use it on every project. f.e. I use purple colour for colour references. In the grading I just jump to the next purple note and grade from there before and after. And I can quickly export a purple search construct for the clients as short lookdev preview.

We also implemented note colours in a ftrack workflow so that we can add tasks via python script and also can change tasks by changing the note colour in scratch (say from red to green) when I solved a qc task in grading.

it is very powerful as soon as you understood what you can do with it ;)

cheers,
Tobi

Well.
Our manual has room for improvement, I give you that.
But I did send you a link which shows exactly how to switch the navigation mode:
https://www.assimilateinc.com/navigation-hotkeys/

I disagree on everything being "like hell" in SCRATCH.
Because neither are we stupid, nor is our user base entirely made up of masochists.
SCRATCH might just not be for you, that's fair and I can live with that.

Mazze

1. Pressed the N key. The letter N appeared in the note.
To the fact that I've been in note-taking mode for a long time)
2.  "....and use the search construct.."
I had enough of searching for "navigation mode"))
How to turn something on to see these very notes on the timeline??????????
I've already written them in red, yellow and purple and in different places in different clips.
All I found was a construct search.
I wrote the note "test" with purple, being in the 5th minute of the clip.
went to construct (as I understand it, this is the navigation mode, otherwise I do not understand the logic of the tips).
Clicked on search. I typed test.
Found the object.
Pressed go to shot - I see the selected clip in the construct. My brain is boiling! What clip - I need to get to the segment of the 5th minute, where I wrote the note. Okay, I thought - maybe I need to switch to edit and there playhead will be on the 5th minute.
I switched - the playhead is at the beginning.

A program for people with a certain mindset. I just love the color tools in it. It's not even about splines on curves. I do not know how to explain it, but in it, when you process something, there is no doubt - right or wrong. It's "done and done."
I'll probably look for everything myself, otherwise I'll blow your minds all by myself.
Maybe if I do my own research and get my bearings.
in the program, it would be easier. Otherwise, it's like having sex with someone else. I guess it is.
