Hey

is there anything similar to the Resolve Color Compressor to be used in Scratch?

Just saw this tutorial and I am wondering how to get it done.
Keying skin tones and compressing with the Vector tool came to mind…anything else?

Hi Mark,

I rewrote exactly this as a salamifish tool and our colourists use it for around 2 years now. very useful, though not available on salamifish.com yet. I can make you an offer if you want to purchase it;)

cheers,
Tobi

Hi,

Looks cool.

Not sure I understand the difference between this color compress tool and a layer with a qualifier + adjustments on hue / sat / lum though…

 Cheers,

Alex

colour compress compresses the qualified colours in direction to a sample colour, for instance one selected RGB value for skintones in your working colourspace. If you dial in hue, sat and lightness to 100% it will result in the target colour patch. but in real life you would rather use hue and sat in a combination and maybe dial in a tiny bit of lightness match. also it can make sense to dial back the opacity of that layer. image a face with green and red spill light but it is too narrow in hue to properly qualify it with HSV-so you can qualify the whole skin and select one of the skin colours as target for example the greenish one. so colour compress won’t do much change on the green side but will correct the red side a lot.

does that make any sense?

cheers,
Tobi
