Hello to supporters of UNSCR 1325 + peace-building! Regarding immunity and impunity of the USA military on sexual gender based violence, here is a TV program produced by "60 - Minutes" of Australia on my friend in Japan, Catherine Fisher. Catherine is an Australian woman who has been living in Japan for nearly 30 years, who was sexually assaulted/raped by USA armed forces personnel 10 years ago.
She was assaulted/raped by US military personnel in Japan - only to find immunity instead of recourse to meaningful justice due to governmental secret agreements. I appreciate very much your engagement in fighting immunity and impunity by the US military and all military groups globally on SGBV.! I have tried to 'forgive' my American perpetrator who sexually assaulted myself and other young girls when I was 12-years old in Okinawa, but it would be foolish to forget about such incidents, if one is to pave way toward concrete peace and justice that are meaningful to survivors and witnesses.
Please feel free to contact my colleague Catherine Fisher on the link mentioned on the article.
Perhaps it would be nice if she were invited to Europe from Japan and we can both present a forum on SGBV (sexual gender based violence) crimes by states not part of the Rome Statute or the International Criminal Court.
With kind and respectful regards to you all for your impassioned work! B. Kawamura, Oslo.

It takes a lot of guts to stand up against a foreign government and the might of the US military. But Catherine Fisher is one brave and determined Australian.
Ten years ago, she was raped in Japan by an American sailor. Neither the local police nor the US navy did anything to help. So Catherine began a long, painful and often frustrating investigation of her own.
She discovered that her rapist got away with it because of a secret agreement between the Japanese government and the American military.
What's truly disturbing is that same deal applies here in Australia and US sailors have already taken advantage of it.
