Friday, 24th: Take Back the Night- Edmonton

TBTN is a march and rally addressing violence against women. Anyone is welcome to join us as we protest the realities of sexual violence and all forms of violence against women, support survivors of violence and honour those women who did not survive. Whether an ally or a survivor, or both, come share in a community effort to demand an end to violence against women!

The event will begin with a women's only (trans friendly) march down 118 Avenue. Following the march, there will be a rally including a Clothesline Project and a speak out (open mic). Men are welcome at the rally.

Join us as we demand an end to violence against women!

Meet up at Alberta Avenue Community Hall - 9210 118 Avenue, 7pm - 10pm

Moving Planet: Edmonton 350 Rally

Edmonton 350 invites you to Moving Planet Edmonton, our contribution to 350.org’s Moving Planet day of action -- “a worldwide rally to demand solutions to the climate crisis -- a single day to move away from fossil fuels.”

Here’s what we’re planning for our Edmonton rally:

• 11:00 AM: Meet at the NW corner of 105 Street and Whyte Avenue, site of a toxic brownfield that’s been under remediation for more than 13 years. An example of what we want to move away from.

• 11:15: Move—in a human powered manner (walk, bike, skate, skip, whatever) —to the Alberta Legislature.

• 12 noon – 1:00: Rally at the Legislature for music, speeches and the presentation of our three-five-zero message.

Speakers include meteorologist Julian Brimelow, Edmonton Centre Green Party candidate David Parker, and MP Linda Duncan (more to be finalized soon!)

Musical acts as well!

So let’s move Edmonton. Let’s show the world we’re willing to move beyond fossil fuels.

Sunday, September 25th: Green Marketplace, Expressionz Cafe: 9939 - 70ave, Edmonton.

Monday, September 24th: Treaty Rights Rally, Alberta Legislature - noon.

Treaty 6, 7, and 8 are coming together for a rally to bring attention to Treaty Rights in Alberta. Greater attention needs to be given to the recent legislation passed in the Alberta Legislature-- from land use frameworks, to education and health changes. As the leadership race to become Premier draws to a close, it is time to bring greater attention to Treaty Rights and show solidarity between Treaty 6, 7, and 8, and supporters.
