Dear SCPDS Colleagues:

I would like to follow up with you because at our last meeting we
agreed to gather documents to review so we can begin developing both a
common handbook of PDS guidelines and an evaluation tool based on the
NINE ESSENTIALS. If you email documents to me at
mcos...@callutheran.edu, I will begin posting and alert everyone to
begin their review.

I have gathered some information on what others are doing regarding
the Nine Essentials. Two people who actually worked on the committee
to develop tthe Nine Essentials cautioned us to use our evaluation
tool as a guide, not an absolute indicator of whether we have a strong
PDS or not. They felt that PDSs need to evolve based on the needs of
the stakeholders so whatever we come up with should not "rate" the
quality of the PDS...instead only point out areas that may be explored
for growth.

I also requested the NAPDS include an open forum for anyone who would
like to share how they use the Nine Essentials to guide their
practice. I offered for Merilyn and I to facilitate that forum. I
will keep you posted if that gets approved.

Also, thank you to Merilyn for putting together the proposal for a
presentation on the work we are beginning with the SCPDS.

Dear Michael and SCPDS Colleagues,

I'm sending a draft copy of La Verne's PDS Candidate Placement Agreement for Teacher Education for our handbook project. In the near future, we expect to have draft copies of similar documents for each of our other PDS-participating College programs (school counseling, school psych, ed leadership).

See you at the December 6 meeting.

Emily
