Sounds great Mike. Just to let you know that Barbara and I are not able to access any of the postings on Yahoo.
Would love to know if the people back east are aware of Prioritizing Urban Children, Teachers, and Schools Through Professional Development Schools by Pia Wong and Ronald Glass? I hope you take a copy on the plane. It's truly enlightening!
I have a couple of Special Education people coming to our February conference. I am trying to engage our single subject people as well. When might we expect the flyer so we can get the word out?
Go SCPDS TEAM!

Hi Mike,
I think this is a very exciting prospect,  I'd love to come along but I'm leaving for England on Dec 1st. This opportunity just came up over the weekend. Actually, I think the visit will also fit in with our (the group's) interests because I will be visiting some of the new National Teaching Schools (aren't all schools teaching schools???) these are school-based teacher training sites, an equivalent to PDSs but with most of the responsibilities and authority of the university teacher  prep programs. Could be the future in CA too....

For all members:
I spoke with Luke Matjas, the art professor here, who is having his class design our logo. I passed on the questions and issues raised last week to him. He assures me the logo will be ready within our time frame. More news as it comes in on that.

QUESTION: ARE WE SCPDS OR SCPDSC (the final C being for Consortium)????

Steve also wrote to me last week about difficulty accessing materials in the Yahoo Group.  What I sent to him clearly didn't work, but this is was how I gained access and it may help others. With you being the originator and manager you will have a different access than (us mere) members....
"This is what I learned:
* You can bookmark the Group page and when you click on the bookmark you see the Group home page with photo, but you'll find the the links in the left hand menu (Files, photos, links etc,  and the buttons above the photo - 8 New Members, 1New Link etc) are not active.
* What you have to do for access to materials is actually sign into the Group (top left above Yahoo Groups) to do that I used my Yahoo email sign in info. Then you'll find all the buttons and links are active.
* You'll find the articles by clicking on 5 New Files.

Thanks Merilyn for the update on the logo

I think we want to be known as the

Southern California Professional Development School Consortium

But  S C P D S C seems to not flow the same way as SCPDS when saying the letters aloud.

Emily shared the email list you sent to her so e-flyers should go out to those on that list this weekend.
