Dear PDS Colleagues
A big thank you to our hosts of today's meeting at University Prep
School and their partner CSUCI. For those of you not able to attend,
our conversation today was robust and we agreed to some common goals
for the consortium going forward:
1. Publish a document that discusses the benefits of the PDS model
for all stakeholder groups. The intent would be to use this to
communicate why the PDS model should be supported. It can be used for
parent groups, district administrators, boards of education and to
advocate for other schools and universities to develop PDS
partnerships.
2. Seek grant money that could be used by our networking group to
provide professional development to faculty
3. Sponsor a conference in 2011-12 school year for PDS best
practices. Initial Target audience would be PDS and IHE faculty
I have attached the initial results of a brainstorming session that
took place today in the "FILES" section of this GOOGLE GROUP page.
This is an initial draft of our attempt to begin listing the benefits
of PDSs. Please contact me to add to this list. We will re-visit
this list at our next meeting and decide how to fine tune and what the
we want the final document to look like.
PLEASE SAVE THE DATE:
Next meeting of SCPDS Networking Group will be:
Date: Monday, March 7, 2011
Time: 10am-3pm (lunch will be served)
Hosts: Los Cerritos Middle School (Conejo Valley Unified School
District) and California Lutheran University
Place: Los Cerritos Middle School
2100 East Avenida De Los Flores
Thousand Oaks, CA 91362
We hope some of our partners who have not been able to join us in the
past will be able to attend in March. The more involvement we have,
the richer the discussion.

Hello,
I've been following the emails through the weeks but have been getting ready for our review this year and just can't get to meetings. I have a unique chapter to add to a book on PDS, and that is regards my work with Antioch Santa Barbara's partner school playground staff. I have a chapter to write and this would give me incentive to do it. The relevant story is the synergy of resources that strenthens the community fabric of the school beyond the classroom, to the playground. It addreses issues such as bullying and safety.
Your last email sparked a productive moment,
Thanks, I hope to make a contribution to the SCPDS
