Subject: Fwd: Changes to Adventurous Actitivies

Dear Fellow Scouters,

You would be aware of a recent "e Bulletin" announcement and supporting Scouts NSW website "latest news release" regarding changes to Adventurous Activities qualifications. In order to support the transition into the new method of achieving Adventurous Activity Qualifications there now has been produced flowcharts that detail the two pathways that a Leader can follow in order to achieve an Adventurous Activity Qualification.

Please find attached the flow charts detailing how a Leader can achieve an Adventurous Activity qualification.

I ask that you please distribute the flowcharts to members of your respective teams so that when we go live with the new system that we will all have an understanding of the changes.

I have spoken with Phil Harrison from National, Doug Menzies and Margaret Crawford and we are able to go live with the transition as of Wednesday 19 August 2015.

This means that Leaders, Rovers and youth members over the age of 15 can be assessed at a Scouting Skills level.

In summary the major change means that Leaders, Rovers and youth members over the age of 15 can be assessed at a Scouting Skills level by participating in a Training Activity conducted by Training Team members and be deemed competent and achieve a "permission to operate" up to a Level 2 qualification without having to enroll in the SAIT RTO allowing leaders to achieve qualifications to provide and run active Scouting - bush walking and water activity programs.

The management of the ongoing annual currency of qualifications will be carried out in each Region by the RC AT&D, as previously previously discussed with all RC AT&D at the March RC's Conference, who in turn will remit their lists through to the Assistant SC for VET c/o State Office Training Department.

For those members who have already submitted workbooks and RPL packages for Level 1 & 2 qualifications for assessment State Office will send a letter to them explaining to them that they will only be accredited at a Scouting Skills Level unless they complete and submit the requested SAIT paperwork ie Enrolment form/s, SAIT Privacy Consent form and their USI number.

If you have and questions feel free to contact me or the Training Department at Scouts NSW.

Yours in Scouting,

Stewart
