Afternoon everyone. Apologies if you have seen this already.
Please find attached an email about an upcoming Abseiling Training Course. It is open to all comers, from experienced to novice. As per the below, there is also an opportunity for some people to be assessed for SIS-10 qualifications.
For any more information, please contact Jenny.

Hi Greg,
The weekend is predominantly planned as a training weekend. This means it is open to those who are total novices as well as those who just need to hone their skills before being assessed. It would certainly form part of the log of evidence required to show competence at SIS10 level and will train to what is required under industry standards.
It is not expected that participants will walk away with a qualification at the end of the weekend unless they come with a substantial amount of evidence (log books) and already have the required knowledge and skills. If requested there will be an opportunity for a small number of people to be assessed (if they feel they meet the SIS10 skill and knowledge requirements already) and this would incur a further cost of $60 on completion of both the Level 1 & 2 workbooks so they can be processed as RPL.
I will email out the workbooks to everyone attending so they can see where the goal posts lie.
Hope this clarifies the purpose of the weekend. Feels free to ring me for more info.

Before I forward this on to my Rovers and Rock Contacts, can I have some more details please? Is it an assessment weekend (RPL) or is it a training course aimed at beginners? Is it something in between? What kind of experience, if any, do participants needs? I notice that the cost is $20, this is significantly less than any other SIS-10 course that I have seen advertised. What qualification is it expected that participants will have once finished?
Personally I will not be in attendance, I will be at the National BPSA Support Team Workshop in Adelaide.
