Subject: Pack 404 & 402 Camping Lake Conasauga 28-30 September

Hello everyone!

Attached are four maps in number in sequence of detail. The journey from Ellijay takes a minimum of 45 minutes. Plan accordingly so you are not setting up tents in the dark.

If you cannot come on Friday, please feel free to come Saturday. You should be able to find us easily as there are 35 camping spots there in a relatively small area. If all the campsites are full we will make room.

This is a BYOFAW event; Bring Your Own Food And Water.

The temperatures will be mild in the days and cool in the evenings. Remember to dress accordingly as we are camping at 3,150 and it it a bit cooler up there.

The directions to camping at Lake Conasauga are as follows:

Directions

1.       Drive 5 miles from the square in Ellijay on 52 W (Chatsworth Highway) and take a right on CR 64 (Gates Chapel Road).

2.       Stay on Gates Chapel Road, passing Gates Chapel United Methodist Church, which will be on the right at the top of a hill.

3.       Stay on Gates Chapel, passing the entrance to Bear Creek, which will be on the right.

4.       Bear right on Wilderness Rd. So after you will begin your journey upward.

5.       Turn right onto Conasauga Road/Old CCC Camp Road

6.       Turn left on Conasauga Road/Old CCC Camp Road

7.       Continue on USFS 64

8.       Do not take a right on W Cowpen Road, maintain Conasaug Lake Road.

9.       Take the first right past W Cowpen Road into the main camping area.

Please let me know when and if you are coming so I know when to expect you in case I have to send out a search party. Cell phone service is limited there.

Thanks!

Greg
