This week is all about philosophy...
On Monday, Scott L posted about the failings of the liberal War on
Poverty. The post, entitled "Good Intentions Never Fed a Starving
Child" argues that the liberal philosophies have not allowed the poor
to achieve personal success. Using Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of
needs, Scott shows how conservatism is the only philosophy that will
allow an individual to achieve self-actualization.
In a follow-up post on Thursday, Scott J defends the War on Poverty,
which was entitled "The True Liberal Revolution Has Been Successful."
He argues that the liberal policies of the 1960s and 1970s have in
fact allowed for greater access to the American Dream for women and
minorities. Agreeing with Scott L. on the Maslow argument, Scott J.
argues that only liberalism can meet the needs of poor children
struggling at the bottom of Maslow's hierarchy.

At the blog, please feel free comment on Scott's liberal philosohy
post and/or Scott’s conservative philosophy post. The only way to seek
common ground on the future of America is through effective dialogue.
Neither Scott claims to have the complete answers to the problems
facing America. If you have any thoughts on this matter, please post
them so that the blog can be a place for this dialogue as our great
National Constitution enters its 221st year of existence.
