Some good news - our blog is starting to get referenced by other Malawi sites. In fact, the readership statistics show that February was our best month for web hits.

Have a good weekend,

Jemma

Yes, this is great. I've also noticed that at least one Malawian
blogger has included malawiclinics.org on his blog roll. Scroll down
and you'll find it on the right hand side under "Other bloggers on Malawi":

http://storiesonmalawi.blogspot.com/

Getting onto blog rolls (which are similar to recommended reading lists)
is a good way to improve your search engine rankings, so it's nice to
see. In my opinion though, what is even better is receiving links from
blog posts, as then the linking blogs readers are exposed to articles by
you in a more direct manner, as blog rolls are only visible when people
visit the original site.

This blog roll however might be a good source of bloggers and potential
collaborators.

Anyway, it's great to see it happening!! Keep up the good work, it's
just a matter of time, inertia... and your hard work!! :-)

When is the next project meeting by the way? There's a slim chance that
I might be able to borrow some OLPC XO laptops to bring along and show
people. As I'd like to generate some ideas about how if available they
might be used in or around Malawian health centres.

If possible I'd also like to let Sylvester see one when he comes to
Scotland, and perhaps get some opinions from him on how he thinks they
could support their work in Malawi.

Like wise!

Hi Rick

Thanks for the support.

Can we schedule a suitable time for me to pick your brains about improving the online resources section of the blog? How about a quick coffee in Dundee w/c 17th March?

I continue to leave comments on a range of medical and technology blog sites and it's encouraging to see that traffic is slowly generated.

I'm thrilled that you might be able to let us have a look at some olpc xo laptops. We don't have the next Project meeting planned but I will let you know as soon as a suitable occasion presents itself. I have also been in touch with a researcher at Strathclyde University who is piloting hand-held computers in Malawi schools to determine scope for joint work.

The last few months have been quite frustrating for those of us working on the Project because we are still waiting on the shipment of computers for Malawi to arrive (they are now several months late). This is a purely logistics problem but it has hampered progress no end. Therefore, your link to the Computer Aid scheme was fantastic and I have submitted a tentative bid.

Sylvester should be in Scotland from aprox. May 10th- 30th. We have arranged a series of visits and presentations for him during this time. I think a technology workshop is a must and, if nothing else, I will make sure that we come into Calico Jack to exchange ideas and test out the likelihood of putting some of the ideas into practice.

See you soon,

Jemma
