Hey all,

we are moving things quite quickly here and pushing it hard.

Some things which happened today/yesterday, all based on discussions:

1. We had a voting to narrow down a list of possible names we have. Two
names were left ScotWebConf and WhiskyWeb (they scored the most points).
After some continued discussions on IRC and mailing list we are going
with .... wait for it .... Whisky Web conference (not sure if we should
concatenate words). We have whiskyweb.co.uk, might get whiskyweb.com too.
2. We need an official body to sign contracts with venues, sponsors etc.
That's going to be Web Species Ltd., my company I'm running.
3. We need someone to oversee things and make decisions, this is going
to me.

Right now we should start working on getting a website up. That's for
tomorrow to start.

I know there are as many arguments both for and against .co.uk - for
what it's worth - I'd prefer .co.uk - we are a UK (and proud of it?!)
conference after all...

Much appreciated - but remember to delegate - we're all here to help ;-)

Starting to feel more real now! Apologies, but pre-birthday post-work
drinks = less than production Max, with poor diction - don't expect
anything useful from me until Saturday!

Have a good one folks.

Cheers,
Max

Yay! I'll see what my friend who owns/promotes his whisky tasting
sessions on facebook to see if he wants to somehow sponsor us or
donate some free whisky tasting sessions to convey the name of the
conf. We'll need to be careful with age restrictions though so this
will open a new discussion at a later date me thinks.

Happy with that

Great news.

I've got contacts that do marketing for a couple of well known Whisky brands and another with connections with the Scotch Malt Wnisky Society.
If you want I can ask if any of them would be interested in some sort of sponsorship.

Also count me in if an extra pair of hands is needed.

Sounds great, i think sponsorship from whisky brands would be great
considering the name of the event.

We're getting a pre-build wiki setup.

I'm workin on a CfP and Voting app (dev) which i guess once the base
is built it's something for you (or others) to contribute to.

I'll just be hosting that on Github.

Joshua has a semi-built CfP thing so i'm discussing with him where
that's at so I can come up with a solution for us and perhaps other
conferences to use.

Will update the list with dev/frontend stuff that's being/been done or
to be done.

- Paul.
