I am on the Policy Committee this year and am looking forward to working to improve Scotia-Glenville's policies. I have some ideas of where improvement is needed from my own experience and from interactions with parents over the past year and a half. I'd like to hear more about policies you think need revision or new policies that are needed.

I agree that many of S-G policies need to be improved. The very first
policy that needs to be written is something similar to this: "All
board policies, school policies, codes of conduct and other rules or
policies of the district shall be made available online, with a single
webpage providing links to each."

Where can we see the current school policies?  Are they on the district web site?

Unfortunately I don't know of an easy answer to this question. Some are on the district web site but the only way I know to find them is to search for "policy". I have yet to even get my head around how many policies exist. I agree with Jerry that we need to have all policies available on-line linked from a single page identifying policies. I will work on that.

The policy committee met on Monday evening and considered revisions to
the existing policy on sexual harassment and two proposed policies,
one on gifted and talented and one on the use of video in the
district. These policies will be revisited at the next meeting,
scheduled for February 13, after input is obtained from the
Administrative Council. I believe each is moving towards a first
reading in the near future.

Progress is also being made towards having electronic versions of all
district policies made available on-line.

The Scotia-Glenville CSD policies appear to now be on-line at the district Web site:  http://scotiaglenvilleschools.org/; click on School District Policies on the left-hand navigation menu. Most are in a single PDF and therefore searchable.
