The sawmill RM Law in Cupar Muir, Fife has recently announced it's going
into voluntary liquidation, supposedly due to 'changes in the industrial
pallet market'. The real reason is that a worker was killed in a bandsaw
just before Christmas and the Health and Safety Executive have been
investigating. The owner Ronnie Law has decided it would be handy to retire
at this point just as the HSE's report is due to be published. The mill is
still trading, it will be taken over by the shareholders (ie the managers)
and operated as a new company.

The reasons for all this are pretty obvious. It's unlikely anyone will be
prosecuted as the the old company ceases to exist. It's also going to be
extremely difficult for the family of the man who died to claim compensation
or damages from a non-existent company, or from a former owner who has
fucked off to Lloret del Mar or similar with his pension fund. The widow and
two children of the dead man deserve far better treatment than this.
Predictably, after the accident the firm made no attempt to contact her to
explain what had happened, or even to offer condolences. The shutters went
up immediately.

Law's employs a large number of people, paying shit wages, forces the staff
into compulsory overtime and does not recognise union membership. Safety is
a swear word there. It's the sort of place where the management tolerates
the shopfloor workers firing nail guns at each other just to let off steam.
At the end of the day staff working on the saws are made to clean the
machinery with the blade guards open while the blades are still turning,
because waiting for them to stop would mean longer downtime. Ronnie Law is
personally and directly responsible for the death of that worker, because
the shopfloor managers dictate the way the mill is operated on his behalf
and at his direction. Yet this millionaire fascist is likely to get away
with his money scot free, with no regard or respect for his victim's family.
He can afford to buy the law. If anyone is interested in speaking to Mr Law
about this, he can be contacted on 01334 654109. Alternatively just turn up
at his house at tea time. It's the nice bungalow in Quarry Road, Cupar Muir,
just off the left of the approach road to the sawmill.

Be careful my friend, you obviously have an 'axe to grind' (no pun intended)
but making such allegations public, and inciting such behaviour could be the
source of some difficulty for you.

Hope you get the justice you want!
