Job Role: Devops Engineer

Location: Cincinnati, OH/Onsite(Only locals)

 

Role Description

Design, implement, and oversee deployment pipelines for cloud-native applications, primarily in Azure. Collaborate with development, QA, security, and operations teams to ensure DevOps best practices. Automate infrastructure provisioning (Infrastructure as Code), configuration management, and deployment processes. Maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability. Ensure code management, branching strategies, and code review policies are followed using Git repositories. Lead incident response and post-deployment validation, ensuring rollback, recovery, and auditability. Mentor junior team members on deployment best practices and evolving cloud-native tools.

 

Required Skills

Cloud Platform Expertise: Deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure services (App Services, AKS, Azure Functions, Azure DevOps, ARM/Bicep, etc.). Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures (microservices, containers, serverless). CI/CD and Automation: Proven experience designing/managing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar. Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python or similar) for automating workflows. Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Familiar with monitoring and logging solutions (Azure Monitor, App Insights). Strong analytical skills for diagnosing deployment issues. Collaboration & Communication: Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts, lead cross-functional teams, and drive consensus.

 

Nice-to-have Skills

Security Integration: Experience deploying secure apps and following security best practices (Azure Key Vault, managed identities, RBAC). Other Cloud Providers: Familiarity with AWS or GCP to support multi-cloud/hybrid scenarios. Advanced Automation: Experience with more advanced automation/orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Jenkins pipelines). Testing & Quality: Knowledge of integrating automated testing (unit, integration, load) into pipelines. Auditing & Compliance: Exposure to compliance standards (SOC2, ISO 27001) in deployment pipelines. Cost Management: Skills in optimizing and monitoring cloud resource consumption and cost. Role Description:

As an Application Engineer, you will play a critical role in hands-on coding, in-person troubleshooting, and ensuring the operational reliability of our software applications. This position emphasizes practical problem-solving at the code and deployment level, including performing in-person diagnostics, code reliability reviews, and driving the automation of deployments and testing processes. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure applications remain robust, scalable, and aligned with evolving business needs. You will be involved throughout the software lifecycle, from identifying and resolving production issues to implementing automated solutions and maintaining high standards for code quality and support.

 

Must Have Skillset:

  • Proficiency in hands-on programming with languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot application issues in person and resolve them efficiently
  • Solid experience with automation of deployment and testing (CI/CD pipelines, scripting, tools)
  • Experience conducting code reviews, focusing on reliability, scalability, and best practices
  • Familiarity with application frameworks (Spring Boot, Node.js, Angular, React)
  • In-depth understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies

  • Application Development:

Application Development & Support:

  • Implement new features, bug fixes, and enhancements based on business requirements

Collaboration & Process Improvement:

  • Work alongside product managers, QA, and other engineers in resolving defects and delivering new solutions
