Reconnecting! Update about Scorch and Sirens this year

Hello Scorchies and Sirens of years past!

Firstly, we would like to apologize for the lack of communication to our wonderful alumnae recently. We've been working on a new contact system, and we'll be much more on top of things from now on! Here's our first update:

This year's wonderful coaching staff include:

- Second-year head coach for Scorch and Sirens - Laura Prelsnik ("LP")

- First-year assistant coach for Scorch - Simrit Khalsa ("Sim")

- First-year assistant coach for Sirens - Becka Alper ("B-Kah")

This spring's Scorch and Sirens teams have both had a great start to the season! Due to low numbers last year, we came into the season lacking a B-team. But thanks to some diligent recruiting by returners we were able to split into two strong teams for this spring. Scorch and Sirens both attended their first tournaments of the season at the end of January - Scorch went to Santa Barbara Invite and played against some of the top women's teams in our region, and Sirens attended New Year Fest and got great experience playing against college and club women's teams. We would like to highlight Scorch's performance at Santa Barbara Invite to give you guys a little more insight on the beginning of our season - for a team with such small numbers (just 16 this season), not only we were able to bring our full team to the tournament, but we also broke seed by three places! We went in ranked 13th, played eight hard games, and finished 10th. Scorch is coming into the season hot and we're getting excited for a second tournament this weekend. President's Day Qualifier is sure to have some great teams, and we hope to secure a spot to President's Day Invite either this season or for the next one. 

So we know you are all wondering how you can help out Scorch and Sirens out this season :) Well, you're in luck! We are currently selling Tucson Conquistadores raffle tickets. These tickets put you in a drawing for a 2014 Cadillac ATS. They cost $10 per ticket, and $8 of that $10 goes straight back to our club!! This is our biggest fundraiser of the season and we'd love to get you guys in on it. Our teams are also on the look out for lost traditions. Is there a Scorch song floating about out there? Old cheers you would like to see come back? Let us know! We would love to hear back from you and to keep you in the UA Women's Ultimate loop again.
