Dear SCORAI friends and collegues:

I'm excited to announce that after a 50-year filmmaking career, I'm currently well into what will almost certainly be my final film, ECONOCLAST: HERMAN DALY AND THE GOSPEL OF GROWTH.  I'd like it to be among my very best. It is certainly among the most needed and important. That's why we are now launching a Kickstarter fundraising campaign to to raise the finish funds that will allow us to edit the film, which is already completed photographed and scripted.  Our two previous Kickstarter campaigns were successful and the films completed on time and under budget.  This one will, I hope, be no exception.

Our Kickstarter campaign:  ECONOCLAST: Herman Daly and the Gospel of Growth by John de Graaf — Kickstarter  offers you the opportunity to be part of this much needed production, at any level of support you choose.  All contributions entitle you to rewards ranging from streaming or DVD rights to the film to a Daly biography, your name in the credits and others.

THE FILM

ECONOCLAST: HERMAN DALY AND THE GOSPEL OF GROWTH  is the timely story of the humble scholar who took on the most-widely accepted belief of his discipline--that continued economic growth is the goal of our economy, and is sustainable on a finite planet. Instead, Daly argued, we should view the economy as a subsidiary of the environment, completely dependent on nature, necessitating limits to growth.  In his work in academia and at the World Bank, Herman Daly was a giant in the emerging field of ecological economics.. His life and work have inspired thousands, and through this film, will inspire many thousands more.

Please look closely at our rewards and choose a level of contribution that fits both your interest and your ability to help our team.  All contributions will be appreciated, and are tax-deductible for US residents.  Your credit card will not be charged unless we reach our funding goal, assuring that the film will be completed.

I have donated nearly all of my time to this project because I consider it to be that needed and important.  But we have real monetary costs--for editing time, music, graphic art, archival film footage and promotion, that we truly need to raise through this campaign.

Please go to our Kickstarter campaign page and become a part of our team today.  With you help, we will finish this film by August and have it out widely throughout the world this fall.  We just need a little push to raise finishing funds!!!  And please share this widely.

Thanks so much!  Your support means the world to me!

All best,

John de Graaf
