Dear SCORAI colleagues,

We are getting in touch with very exciting news: “Consumption and Society” has been awarded its first Journal Impact Factor in the 2025 Journal Citation Reports (JCR), achieving a score of 3.0 and top quartile ranking of 22/219 in Sociology and 93/191 (second quartile) in Environmental Studies. This is a particularly impressive first result and is an important milestone in the journal’s development. We have attached a summary report that can be downloaded from the Web of Science for further information.

We thank the SCORAI EU community for their support in launching this journal. This milestone would not have been possible without the engagement of our Board, as well as the excellent contributions of all guest editors, authors and reviewers; and not least, the dedication and support of the BUP team.

In other exciting news, ConSoc was recently accepted for inclusion in the Scopus database, which is an alternative to Clarivate’s Web of Science and produces the CiteScore metric. The journal is currently being indexed in Scopus and will soon be discoverable on the site.

We also would like to announce that Irmak Karademir from the University of Nottingham, a member of our Editorial Management Board, will be joining us as Co-Editor as of this summer. We are delighted to have her on board, as she brings expertise on cultural consumption, taste and stratification, among other themes. Stefan Wahlen, having been Co-Editor since the launch of the journal, will continue to serve on the Editorial Management Board as Associate Editor.

Now that the journal has been awarded an Impact Factor, we would like to take this opportunity to ask you to contact your librarians to take out a subscription, if your institution does not already subscribe. Subscriptions are essential for ensuring the long-term stability of the journal. They enable more people to access the journal, which increases the usage and number of citations. If you are happy to help, Bristol University Press has supplied some suggested wording which you can pass on to your librarian (see attached). We usually find that recommendations are more successful if they are supported by information about any projects or courses what would benefit from a subscription.

Thank you for your continued support and we are looking forward to receiving even more submissions from the sustainable consumption community.

Best wishes,

Marlyne

(also on behalf of the other co-editors, Stefan and Dan)
