Dear all:

The ERC-funded project REAL - A post growth deal is delighted to announce a call for paper submissions to the five panels it organizes, as part of next year's  Pollen 2026 (Political Ecology Network) conference, hosted in Barcelona (June 29 - July 3, 2026), and by our Institute ICTA-UAB!

If you are a broadly-defined political ecologist and work on post-growth/degrowth, you might consider submitting to one of the following five panels:

  • Panel 040: Theorising the Ecosocialist Transition (Bertie Russell, Judith Pape, Kai Heron)

            https://nomadit.co.uk/conference/pollen2026/panel/17443

  • Panel 067: Real Existing Degrowth (RED) - How to study degrowth in real life and why it matters (Julia Grosinger, Angelos Varvarousis, Marula Tsagkari )

            https://nomadit.co.uk/conference/pollen2026/p/17495

  • P087: Postgrowth municipalism: Challenging the city as growth machine (Sarah Bretschko, Borja Nogué Algueró)

            https://nomadit.co.uk/conference/pollen2026/p/17522

  • P101: The geopolitics of post-growth, post-capitalist eco-social transitions (Bruno Gastal, Zehra Taşdemir Yaşınm, Victor Cannilla)

            https://nomadit.co.uk/conference/pollen2026/p/17547

  • P119: Everyday Degrowth: The latent power of moving from the mythic to the real (David Gilbert, Lucía Muñoz Sueiro)

            https://nomadit.co.uk/conference/pollen2026/p/17576

Depending on submissions and organizational capacity, we might consider publishing selected papers from these panels in one or more edited volumes (Special Issues or books).

The call is  open until 23:59 CET on Friday 5th December 2025.

More information can be found  here and applications can be made here. Accepted papers will be announced in January 2026.

Please feel free to spread the call in and beyond  your networks.

We look forward to hopefully seeing you in Barcelona next year!
