Hi all,

I only discovered late last week that there is a public hearing on The Metal Company's application to deep sea mine (on Tuesday and Wednesday). Registration is still open and while I'm not sure it will have any impact, perhaps there is power in being present and calling on NOAA to do the right thing. More details in the essay below (just posted on Medium but also unpaywalled at gaianway.org). And here's a link to the registration details. Public comments are also open until 2/23.

Funnily, some of the soldiers were wearing bright red MAGA-style caps, but with a different message than usual: Nu det NUUK! (which roughly means “now it’s enough”). But the best part: on the side of the hat was Make America Go Away, an excellent reinterpretation of MAGA.
