Hello all,
We have published our 4th policy brief "Public works for a degrowth transformation; jobs for all who want them”, authored by Charles Stevenson!
Best,
Alex

Dear all,
Europe is facing a labour crisis: involuntary unemployment, precarious work, and in-work poverty are on the rise. There is much work to be done to address our concomitant social and ecological crises, yet labour is largely organised around profitability rather than social and ecological utility.
Our new policy brief, “Public works for a degrowth transformation; jobs for all who want them” by Charles Stevenson, argues that the social-ecological transition requires a transformative approach to the question of labour.
The brief proposes a job guarantee program that contributes to the reorganisation of our economies to better meet human needs within planetary boundaries. This federally funded program would provide up to 30 hours of weekly work to all those who seek it, paid at a living wage, focused on the most important challenges of the 21st century.
Not only does a job guarantee put an end to involuntary unemployment, it provides the labour required to achieve social-ecological transformation and has the potential to set standards for decent working conditions throughout the economy.
At Research & Degrowth International, we would be grateful if you could help us disseminate this policy brief within your networks. Please feel free to share this email and the brief with colleagues, partners, and other interested contacts.
Best regards,
